My mum is a secondary school teacher (11 - 16 year olds) and I've noticed time and time again when I'm looking at her marking that the kids she teaches most of them cannot spell properly or use grammar correctly.
I try not to be too much of a grammar nazi (:() but I really really love linguistics and being able to pick apart a language and look at how it really works so spelling and grammar is really important to me.
Wbu?

touché :/
BUT how can you not love looking at how rules work like I remember the first thing I ever discovered on my own was the reason you say "my friend and I went to the shops" is because if you hadn't gone with your friend you would say "I went to the shops" and not "me went to the shops" and I was AMAZED

can't work out if that was intended or not omg
but YES i'm the same I just don't type properly on habbo because cba
but actually I still make sure my spelling is alright. If I don't know how to spell something on Habbo I'll just fuck it up really badly like if I can't spell psychology I just end up typing psycacaohcaocloclogyy

Hmm.. for me it depends on where exactly I'm writing. When I'm writing on forums like HxF I feel as though I still speak with fairly good/formal grammar/writing style, but not to the same extent as if I were to write an email. On the other hand there's whatsapp/messaging, where I'm a bit more 'laid back'. What always annoys me is when people use the wrong there/they're/their or you're/your etc

Can't tell if that was intentional or not :P.

IT WAS COMPLETELY INTENTIONAL most definitely yes, I'd have to kill myself if I genuinely made that mistake....
someone hand me a noose or gun or something pls

Nearly as bad as a four point ellipsis
grammar confuses me still, I have no idea how I managed to complete the highest level of Year 12 english...
Spelling mistakes annoy me and I very rarely make mistakes unless I genuinely don't know how to spell a word so I've just guessed.
I can spell and use grammar well when it's absolutely needed but I wouldn't say that it was crucial. Some dialects neglect grammar quite a bit so I make allowances for people who say things like mines instead of mine... I can't be friends with people who use the wrong forms of your/their though, that's just repulsive.

I find it really interesting to look into and I have pretty spot-on spelling/grammar as my job(s) kinda rely on it haha!
I do think it's an important thing that people should know, simply so they can express themselves in the way they want as generally, if you send a CV or professional email and it's littered with mistakes it can be quite off-putting.
On a personal level I struggle to talk to most people with bad spelling and grammar, I usually end up gently correcting them or just trying to ignore it... which isn't easy!!

lol I don't know if you do this but I'm guilty of subtly correcting someone by repeating what they said. so I'll use the psychology example again ok
So they'd say "oh I took psycology at school"
and even if I'm not I'd say "oh I'm really interested in psychology" just to correct them :$

I've done that a few times then sometimes I just end up correcting people, I can't help it! I usually ask if they mind or not if its not someone I know well but most of the people who know me well enough know that I'm a bit of a grammar nazi and only mean to teach rather than make them feel bad :(

I used to be really big on grammar and spelling, but I've noticed over the past several months mine has really deteriorated :( I should probably begin reading again to help myself!! When it comes to on here too I barely ever type properly and tend to shorten words a lot

I'm going to say it's fairly important to me. Everyone makes mistakes here and there and I suspect nobody knows the spelling of every word under the sun, but when someone constantly makes the most basic of errors when they should know better, that really grinds my gears.
Also if I feel like my wording makes no sense in a reply to a thread or something along those lines, then I usually just don't post lmao

I don't really care so much for it. The only thing that gets to me is when people spell you're or your the wrong way!
I have a few times found myself become less attracted to people because of their poor texting game, so yes, I'd say they're pretty important to me! Having said that, I do struggle with grammar sometimes but I am very good with spelling :)
