Auschwitz

Anyone on here ever visited Auschwitz at all? I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea but just wondering what the experience was like visiting it. It just popped into my head and is one place I would like to go.

I've been. It's definitely something you should do, but it's really harrowing as you'd expect really. it's the room full of children's shoes that always get to me.
You go there and everything just feels cold and dark. I do recommend going though, it becomes more than just a name once you've seen it all in person

Yea I did it as part of a programme so got to hear the testimony of a survivor ziggy shipper and then we went over just for the day. The masses of hair and personal possessions are like ingrained in my memory :( we also got to do a little ceremony conducted by a rabbi and then left candles along the railway line. I visited sachsenhausen last March and it was bitter bitter cold. To the point my friends lips were turning blue. Broke my heart that people had to stand out in the yard for hours starving and sick!!

I've never been but there was a Poland trip at my secondary school that took quite a few people but it was too expensive for me :(

They all said it was horrible but definitely something worth doing and I definitely definitely want to go when I can. Wouldn't want to go alone though wow

I'm really interested in all this history lark. I've heard stories and watched drone footage around the camp. This is one of the things on my bucket list tbh.

i thought the exact same honestly
i was like laughing irl hahaha

but anyway nah, i've never been myself but I'd definitely try it if given the opportunity
has always interested me
