what do you use as contraception? what have you previously used?
do you feel safe using your method of contraception or do you still get paranoid?
if you've got pill/implant/injection etc do your parents know?
also do you get any side effects from whatev you use? how long have u been using it for?

so when i turned 16 my mum told me that i need to get implant otherwise i cant see my boyf
we hadnt done anything sexual or even related by that point but she still made me lmao so ive had implant since
i still get really paranoid though so we still use condoms
we're like all a family of implants
me my mum and sister all have implant

when i got it i saw my friend and she had a pregnancy scare so i told her to just get the implant so she ended up getting it done however her mum doesnt know about it
my other friend has the injection every 3 months or whatev and her parents take her for it. she uses it for protection tho and her parents think its for periods
my other friends just use the pill but one of them hasnt been taking the pill regularly and slept with a guy and the guys best friend so shes scared incase shes pregnant and if she was she wouldn't know who the dad is lol

i use the implant too, still get periods every few months that last a week but don't get as bad cramps and don't get the suicidal feelings of pms i used to get so win!!!!! ye my mum knows cause she came with me to get it lmao can't remember why. she also took me to get contraception the first time, came home with a love bite n she made me get the pill, cringe. but rly didn't like the pill (felt bloated and sick). i would like to stay on the implant but it's too long term for me so i was thinking of getting the injection after this is out then continue with implant after im done baby making but am terrified to get it out so don't rly wanna do it multiple times lol.

u could change ur mind after tho! like once you get it out first time u might be fine with it u never know
the implant made my period SO much better
i was on 3 week cycle before i got it so 2 weeks off 1 week on
then implant made it every 6 weeks
and then i had sex for first time and its changed the cycle completely and i still dont even get what it is its just irregular
i havent had period for 2 months now tho

am gonna pretend u didn't say u had sex ok im gonna remain in denial for the rest of my life :)
but actually i think the same happened to me after i first done did it but i was pretty stressed out after it so that might have been it?

Lmao my general attitude to sex is my greatest method of contraception but I'm also permanently on the pill for another reason
still would 100% use a condom though cos you can never be too safe:¬:

I tend to just go with my exuberant lack of sex appeal, seems to do the trick

I never had a proper boyfriend until I was 17 and until around 18 months ago it was just generally using condoms! My ex didn't want to make me get contraception as he didn't want me to suffer the side effects or anything. However, I think gaining maturity I didn't fancy the pill as I could probably guarantee I would forget it, my sister got the implant, but bled for months on end so had the pill alongside it which didn't help so now she uses neither as far as I know.

Around 18 months ago I started using the patch and as long as I change it around the same time each week it goes ok, if not I might just get rather moody for a bit! The patch has been great for me, it's made my periods actually start around the same time, as before I wouldn't know when I was due on or anything. With the patch it's similar to the pill, although instead of taking it every day I change it every week, then after the third week is over I have a patch free week where I may bleed (this doesn't have to happen, but I've always been regular). Then when that week is over it goes back on again and the cycle starts again. The patch isn't too easy to get - there's only one type so if I was allergic or anything I would have had to use something else, it also reduces the risk of breast cancer, slightly increases the risk of cervical cancer etc. I think you can only have the patch until around the age of 35 and be under 14 stone.

My first batch lasted 3 months, then they did a review and gave me 6 month's worth then had a review then they were meant to give me 12 months, but accidentally gave me 6, so I went back and had a review now I have 12 month's worth again! They check your weight, blood pressure etc. every time to make sure it's ok.

I think my parents would have rather have let me have the choice than just telling me I was going on so and so.

Also I read this thread and I was like omg Gina I've known you since you were like 10-12 stop lmao. At least you waited and that though so that's cool :P.

i've been on the pill since i was 16 and im 21 now. i use it nonstop so i havnt had a period in 5 yrs and prob never will again until i decide to have kids oneday

only ever had minor side affects from it- tiredness, more hungry than usual, and made my boobs bigger.

i forget to take it sumdays but id rather have pills than getting an injection or implant- too scary imo

I've been on the pill since I was about 16, mostly to control my periods as my problems means it's really painful and better to not have one, weirdly. But yeah, my preferred method of contraception is not leaving the house or talking to anyone IRL so I'm generally fine ;)

Started on the pill last month cause im a late bloomer... My parents probably assume im on something but ive not told them directly cause im 18 and dont technically live with them and they probably dont care or want to know that im sexually active cause im still 2 in their eyes....
Before i had sex though im pretty sure, like Mike, my face was contraception enough

Also I feel ashamed that Gina lost her v younger than me
And im just in denial in general about it Yuxin;

gina!!! you're a woman now

I'm on the pill and have been for like 5/6 years. I'm on cerazette which is one where you just take it the whole month, you don't have a week off. I very very rarely get periods but sometimes I do bleed a bit.

I dunno if I have side effects because it's been so long that i've been on it!! However the doctor did give me a cheaper pill for a bit but it was SO HORRIBLE it made me depressed and grumpy so I went back on my beloved cerazette.

My friend has gone for non-hormonal contraception which is the coil but her periods have got horrible now.

I’m currently on the Rigevidon pill. Previous to this was Zeletta as I was going to get an implant, but apparently they decided to ask me before I had it done about my previous blood clots in my legs from my car accident and breast cancer in my family history and said they wouldn’t do it. That made me bleed heavily, where I’d be on and off every week – which is why I’m now on Rigevidon.

A few years before that I was on Depo Provera – which I was on from the age of 13 – 15 and then 17 to 18. When I was first on it I got awful red stretchmarks on the back of my legs. They’ve only just really faded. The second time around was good, no side effect and I was happy – but didn’t have the ability to get off of work to get it done.

My mum is aware, she also had to come with me when I was younger to be put on the injection – for heavy periods.

I’m pretty happy with the contraception in the way that I use nothing else, but I’m pretty sure I’m uninhabitable anyway. It’s made my periods very regular so I know when I’m expecting a river of red.

Reading this, girls have so many ways/methods and guys are just like "condoms or pull out".

Being a girl would suck
