Hiiii guys, I thought I would make a debate about this.
Do you think lying is a good or bad thing? Lying might be good to spare someones feelings but then it might be bad because they might want to the truth.
I personally thing it's bad because I always tell the truth so I expect others to do the same.
What's your thoughts?

Obviously bad, you're telling someone something in an attempt to deceive them.

But what if you're doing it to spare their feelings? Say it was your partner and s/he asked if their butt looked big in a pair of trousers, would you lie then?

No, I don't lie.

I only really lie if it's someone asking if I'm okay or if it's something I don't want to talk about, then I'm just like yeah im fine :)
Other than that, I try my best not to lie, but let's face it... everyone lies.

Everyone lies yea, but some people are good liars and you can't tell if they are actually lying or not.

As a diagnosed compulsive liar (classy I know) I have to say I don't see honest as black and white like most people do. I don't really have time to explain my case right now (:() but yeah, I'll throw a spanner into the works and say I'm not that interested in the truth most of the time.

So if someone asked you to tell the truth, would you still lie?

Depends, it's difficult to say because it really is/was habit rather than me calculating in my head and trying to make things difficult for people; it was just like any other bad habit.
I try and catch myself out now when I notice that I'm doing it and either stop before I say anything untrue or I'll say after like, "actually no that's not what happened..."
So if someone asks me to tell the truth these days and I don't want to I do explicitly say I'm not going to answer, or I just choose not to reply by changing the subject or something.

You say that you would try and change the subject. What if they keep on the subject and keep asking for an answer?

Then I'd do what I said above that and tell them they won't get an answer :P Everyone I've ever said that to is always pretty chill about it as it would be rude to push someone for an answer they don't want to give (bc the question is usually personal)
I don't really like lying, however I think everyone is prone to doing it at some point. I feel if someone asks you for an opinion your best bet is to be honest about it, if they can't take the answer then they really shouldn't have asked for the opinion.
If it's something that's been said by your boss, and maybe someone asks about it because they said they don't want anyone to know, i'd lie. In this case, lying in my eyes is good as your protecting that's that have been said by your boss. If someone says that it's a promise and someone asks you and you make something else up as a lie, your respecting that persons friendship and not telling someone the truth, like they asked.
However if someone has done something wrong, and they lie to you, or they broke something and they say no it wasn't me, I can't stand that. I enjoy people to be honest and truthful when they've done something they should own up too. I also hate lying when people make up stuff about you, or say that you've said something.
It's a toss up really, if your protecting someone then I think it's good, however if your trying to get someone into trouble or lying about breaking something, it's pointless. Just be honest in this case.
A toss up really, not sure if I can decide lol
I'm completely against lies it's one of my biggest pet peeves if you lie to me once then don't expect me to trust you again.

People Lie on a daily biases.. I believe all relationships have a trust factor to them If a relationship is based on you or someone
else I feel like you shouldn't have a relationship with them because you just won't trust what they say!

I cant imagine a time where lying is a good thing if im honest. Everything comes out in the end so why not be honest?
