View Full Version : Are Antismoking Ads Effective?
you don't really see many around these days to be honest, only the ones about taking 7 steps away from children but... do you think these are effective enough? should there be more anti smoking ads on the tv or?

the question really is why are the government taking money from the taxpayer to then tell the taxpayer how to live, what to eat and how much to drink/smoke.
the idea that the government is supposed to serve the people has seemingly gone out the window.
i can't stand the stupid adverts telling me how much to drink. that's my decision as a grown adult thank you.
i can't stand the stupid adverts telling me not to smoke. that's again my decision.
i can't stand the absurd warnings of a "slippery platform" at a railway station as though i've never experienced a wet temperate northern european climate before.

^ you want the government telling us how much we can pay for stuff and acting like a business though
And yeah they're very effective without them I would have thought that smoking is the cool whizzer thing to do

I think the latter item in your list is in some ways caused by the suing attitude the world has these days. However I don't think the anti smoking ads are effective, but I am assuming they must be in some way?

There are a couple that are shocking here in the states. Now here it's more focused on not smoking because of your pets.I feel the more shocking ones do their job.

We need more facts over here, and more to shock people and tell the truth. There's been a few in the past but, nothing recent to be fair.
I think they are to most people but the people who don't smoke find them very annoying.
I don't smoke so can't really say.
I know if/when the issue has been brought up in discussion at Uni in class, the people that actually smoke tend to say "oh who cares I'm going to die anyway" or something like that. I think the price rise of cigarettes are more effective than adverts.
