^ This message breaches Article 5(3) of Directive 2002/58 (the e-privacy directive).

The installation of an ad blocker counts as a direct lack of consent as per Recital 66 of Directive 2009/136 (directly supersedes 2002/58, which caused the cookie consent "scare")

So i'd remove it if i were you ;)

How can saying please be illegal

It's the fact that they are running software to detect users have an ad-blocking program installed.

I always just thought if the ad failed to appear then that appeared instead since I've had it a few times despite not using one

But who really cares, lets be honest, it's just a habbo fansite and if someone went out of their way for 'justice' it would be wrong not to laugh at them

So they can break the law just because their a habbo fansite? Hey they might as-well post child-porn in the banner... (Their a habbo fansite so who cares right?)

You're an idiot if you think a placeholder image is the same as child porn

Of-course I don't think its the same.. But i did exactly what Cerys did.. I trivialised the law.

It's not illegal to have a placeholder image that appears if nothing else is in the space

Hey I never trivialised it, you gotta stop making assumptions!

Like Tom, and I even said, it's hardly illegal to have an image and you saying it's illegal is just making assumptions that habbox is using apparently illegal methods.

But it is if you detect the advert hasn't loaded.

First of, didn't you scam GoldenMerc; and owe him money?

Hi DeejayMachoo$; - firstly, under the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58), I can't find any section on using an AdBlocker. You'll have to quote it for me, and provide a link to where you are seeing this.

Secondly, we don't use any sort of AdBlocker detection software. In fact, we have just placed the text underneath where the Ad would be displayed. So, if there were no image there, the text would show. Not a hard principle to do without detection software!

Thanks.

You assume the servers are hosted in EU territory which might not be true.

I did have issues in the past which caused me to make bad decisions and get help for them. But last I spoke to him I believe he was happy where we left off. Either-way I no longer partake in freelance web-development.

Back onto subject.. I'm just trying to help you guys not break the law...

A law that you can't pinpoint and that isn't being broken even if you could

All I see in that picture is a screenshot of some code that detects if a div height is less than 10 and, if it is, display some text?

I can't find anything under Article 5 at all about the use of ad blockers. Nor can I anywhere in the directive. Can you be sure it exists?

An alternative for when a certain object doesn't load =/= accessing someone's info or storing anything... at all

Okay, I'm closing this off now as I presume there's no further discussion.

As a summary, we don't actually use any ad block software detection (script or otherwise). Also, I fail to see anything on what you've mentioned in Article 5, Section 3 - but that might just be me!

If there is still a problem, however, feel free to create a thread in our support forum (http://habboxforum.com/support) and I'll be more than happy to discuss this further with you.

Thanks, all.
