Microsoft announced today that it will stop making its Xbox 360 gaming console after a decade of production.

"Xbox 360 means a lot to everyone in Microsoft," Xbox head Phil Spencer posted online. "And while we've had an amazing run, the realities of manufacturing a product over a decade old are starting to creep up on us. Which is why we have made the decision to stop manufacturing new Xbox 360 consoles. We will continue to sell existing inventory of Xbox 360 consoles, with availability varying by country."

In a statement, Microsoft said it will continue to support Xbox 360 users by keeping Xbox Live services available to the console. Xbox 360 games will still be available in stores and online until supplies run out.

Unsurprising given the age of the hardware. At least they'll be keeping xbox live running on it for the foreseeable.

Yeah, I suppose it depends when they decide the "End of Life" for the Xbox 360 is. I only foresee a year or so of life left in it to be honest.
