your current job/line of work?

Was it something you had planned for years (e.g. decided what you wanted to do then studied towards that such as college/uni), is it something you're just in to pay the bills until you finish education, is it something you just stumbled into and realised you liked?

It's what I've been studying for years so it was a natural progression into work.

Inseriousity.

Stumbled into it. Didn't even apply lol, some agency rang me up cos they saw my CV and thought it'd be a good fit. I do enjoy it though and they were right, it is a good fit for me

Wanted to be a chef for years, did food at GCSE, loved it. Did/doing professional cookery at college now, and a part time chef job, almost finished college.

I enjoyed messing around with my computer at home, figured it was the only thing I was good at so followed a path into Windows Systems Engineer. And to be honest I regret it but that is the way it is.

I didn't have a job after leaving 6th form, and my cousin got me my job as they needed to take someone on. That was that. Nearly 3 years now. Still am looking for a career though.

I was training to become a counsellor and we did a presentation about places that do certain forms of talking therapies and someone mentioned about Samaritans and it just felt like a good career path to get to where I want to be. Gain more experience etc.

Looking for work and my friend was a manager there. I didn't want to work here, but it pays the bills.

I've planned it since like year 10. I finished university and I'm now currently in the first job offered after a month of applying and interviewing for almost everything! Not the dream job but at least it's in my field so I'm getting heaps of design experience to work my way up!

I know some of the current students in my school previously because I was a volunteer tutor at a kid center. Then, I'm just curious what it is to teach this student officially in class. Then, here I am :D

to be honest. the job i am at now basically fell in my lap. kind of...

last Summer i left my job as a Chef of 12 years to pursue something different. i went to school for Laboratory Tech and wanted to do something in the Laboratory setting, that way it doesn't feel like such a waste of money spent on school. the Restaurant i was working in wasn't changing any, the pay sucked, no benefits, horrible hours etc.
i felt bored and needed a challenge, i needed some change. I told my boss this and he didn't like that very much, which eventually turned into me giving my two weeks notice the following day.

i had no backup plan tho, i didn't have another job lined up, i just knew i didn't want to do this anymore. so after i left i collected my Unemployment benefits for the summer [March - Nov]. making barely enough to live off of and saving zero while i look and go to job interviews for the Laboratory Setting. , i finally had enough and started looking else where because i needed money and needed to get out of the house more then one day a week. a friend of mine told me about a job in a factory on the floor making magnesium car parts. it wasnt something i really wanted to do but it would be something to make money as i look for the Laboratory job i wanted so badly.

after working on the floor for 6 months and proving myself to the management and supervisor team i was asked if i wanted to work in the quality side of things in the Laboratory running tests and data for the customers. it came with a hefty raise. tons more responsibility and hours, but it was a step in the right direction for me. and now i love it! a solid career choice!
