What professions do you think are overpaid?

Obviously most people I'd imagine would say the likes of footballers.

Tube drivers 100%. Cheeky buggers live within the confines of cotton wool, preventing competition for jobs, whilst screwing over Londoners.

Top level town council staff, often on like £200k+ and completely unelected yet paid with public funds. I have no problem whatsoever with highly paid sportspeople since it's private money that the club owners can do with as they please

Most of the civil service. Not only are their basic wages ginormous but the benefits & pension package is ridiculous too.

i assume ppl who say the government are overpaid are meaning those in parliament and aren't referring to the likes of police, NHS or fire service, because any of those public services pay ridiculously low for what they actually should be.

profession wise though, got to be the politicians, can turn up to parliament when they fancy and if they do they get all their travel expenses n such, its just like what.

The 10,000 greedy officials of the European Union who are paid more than the British Prime Minister and who have given themselves special tax exemptions.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/eu/10847979/10000-European-Union-officials-better-paid-than-David-Cameron.html

More than one in five European Union officials takes home more than David Cameron gets from his £142,000 salary, leaked documents show.

The take-home pay of the Brussels-based commission’s staff is inflated by their special low tax rates, which mean they pay less than half the tax that a British worker on a similar salary would incur.

The EU has repeatedly refused to publish information of the net income of its 47,000 staff, making it impossible for taxpayers to know the true pay levels of European civil servants. But leaked staff documents have revealed the net pay received by EU officials thanks to generous allowances and deductions for tax, pensions and sickness insurance.

I would also say GPs are paid too much given the general work they do. I'd much prefer to move to a more specialist-based system in healthcare.

Govt ministers are not overpaid. People saying "everyone in government" are naive. It's a ridiculously stressful job, and involves so many pressures from so many different angles.

In my current city the people who are actually getting paid way too much are our city bus drivers. There's approx. 10 buses that do routes in our city and a couple years back they felt like they weren't getting paid enough and they went on strike. I think right now they make approx. 45-50K CAD/annually. Which is really sad because even in the business that I am in (Kitchen Designing) I make approximately 30-35K CAD/annually. So yeah...
