View Full Version : CLIENT EVENT RESEARCH

hi everyone, i was wondering what type of client events you'd like to see hosted by habbox. i offered to host 9pm today but really i think i'd be bored hosting games like danger pod. while i tried to offer different games that were easy to set up in the time most people weren't fussed, so would be good to get an idea of what games people would like to see hosted in future.
not trying to criticise current hosting but gives me an idea of both what i might enjoy hosting and what other people like.
over the last 2 pages in comm noticeboard these are client events.
luck based
danger pod
don't roll a 6
unlucky chair
heaven or hell (x2)
fridge game (x2)
fridge race (x2)
bank game (x3)
lucky colour (x2)
not exactly luck based
don't hit the wall
melting carpet (x2)
stab
supermarket sweep (not too sure what this one is, so putting it here)
telephrase (x2)
isolation
hippo attack
so 14 of the last 23 games hosted were all purely luck based, with some extra involving luck (e.g. isolation/don't hit my wall)
QUESTIONS.
1. what are your 3 favourite games to play on habbo
2. what are your 3 least favourite games to play on habbo
3. what game/s do you think are hosted too much
4. what game/s do you think should be hosted more often
5. do you enjoy luck based games, and why?
6. would you prefer to play games you're familiar with or new games
7. put this list of game genres in order from favourite to least favourite:
luck (e.g. bank)
skill (e.g. snake)
racing (e.g. mario kart)
trivia (e.g... trivia)
tactical (e.g. the mole)
1 player challenges (e.g. beat the dragon)
8. what games (or types of) do you think non-habboxers would enjoy most
9. do you prefer games where you don't have to pay constant attention (e.g. fridge game while waiting for other players) or games that require you to be aware at all times (e.g. don't hit my wall)
10. any ideas or suggestions you'd like to give to the events department
THANKS. will answer these as well if you lot want. basically i hate luck games but i see they're a very popular genre at the moment and it makes me sad, and would people actually prefer to come to something a little bit different or if they'd rather play something they're used to.
Inseriousity.

Btw totally ignore this because I don't really care about playing events anymore so I'm really the wrong target audience. I'm just bored lol.
1. what are your 3 favourite games to play on habbo
My favourite would be bingo. Gutted can't play that anymore :(. It can be played with fridges but it's not quite the same.
Isolation is good fun. I'm crap at it but I like that it's a mixture of skill and luck.
Lucky Colour.
I'm going with more traditional games here but special mention goes to your Trap event, Alex. Pressie trap was rightfully banned in case of bias/favourtism but the wired version is so intense and fun, I really enjoyed it.
2. what are your 3 least favourite games to play on habbo
Heaven or Hell.
Stab*
The Mole*
*Basically any game where it's really based on how popular you are.
3. what game/s do you think are hosted too much
Heaven or Hell is an example of a game that's easy to host but it's also super boring. Even Don't roll a 6 is better cos at least there are 6 options. Makes it slightly more interesting.
4. what game/s do you think should be hosted more often
I honestly don't know. Personally, I am of the opinion that this obsession with luck versus skill games is ridiculous anyway. People say 'host more skill games' but maybe it's just me but more people tend to go to the luck games anyway. Host whatever you like imo.
5. do you enjoy luck based games, and why?
Yes. Bingo was a luck game but it could also be super intense, especially when you're down to the last two and you're desperately clicking that dice, waiting for your number to come up.
6. would you prefer to play games you're familiar with or new games
If the new game is good I'd play it (Trap already mentioned although hmmm is that a new game or a rework of an old one). Sometimes I think the new games can overdo it. Simplicity is key but to make it unique people have to invent crazy rules or have complicated designs.
7. put this list of game genres in order from favourite to least favourite:
luck (e.g. bank)
skill (e.g. snake)
racing (e.g. mario kart)
trivia (e.g... trivia)
tactical (e.g. the mole)
1 player challenges (e.g. beat the dragon)
tactical
1 player challenges
racing
trivia
skill
luck
(oh crap just realised ive done this the wrong way round and cba changing it so tactical is least favourite xoxox)
8. what games (or types of) do you think non-habboxers would enjoy most
Don't know. I think it's fairly even in terms of non-habboxers that participate.
9. do you prefer games where you don't have to pay constant attention (e.g. fridge game while waiting for other players) or games that require you to be aware at all times (e.g. don't hit my wall)
constant attention but only cos I look elsewhere and forget I'm playing sometimes
10. any ideas or suggestions you'd like to give to the events department
surprisingly not lol

1: Melting carpets, isolation, dhmw. Basically ones where I can tell people to go away
2: Trivia (it's never actual trivia it's like 2 categories that people memorise), stab because I never win, "The Sims" because it's glorified Don't Roll A Six that takes 790 years per round
3: None are hosted too much by us let's be honest
4: Everything and anything. Games where lots of people can play at the same time are good because it keeps the room busy and people can socialise while playing. Not The Sims though
5: Sometimes because they're simple (except The Sims, again fuck that game) and you can go mental over stuff that isn't anyone else's fault so no malice
6: Don't mind as long as it's not The Sims
7:
Skill
Luck
1p as long as it's quick
Tactical
Trivia
Racing
The Sims
8: Unfortunately they seem to like repetitive no-skill games and ones where they can gang up and cheat
9: Paying attention. If I'm there to play I want to play, plus it's really annoying when people afk in events like mate you're in the game area be in the game
10: Eat your greens, stay in school, don't do drugs unless they make you host brilliantly, don't host The Sims
People say 'host more skill games' but maybe it's just me but more people tend to go to the luck games anyway.
Yeah literally every time people ask for certain things then never show up to them lol

1. what are your 3 favourite games to play on habbo
Melting Carpets (or Don't Touch the Floor), Bank Game, Isolation
2. what are your 3 least favourite games to play on habbo
Don't Roll a 6, Fridge Game/Don't Get a Carrot (tbh they're basically the same), The Sims
3. what game/s do you think are hosted too much
I'm not sure? I want to say none because iirc before there used to be a thing where each week there was a game or two no one could host because they'd been hosted 'too much' the week before and we reallyyy can't afford to do that now :/ Though I don't think that's what you were suggesting.
4. what game/s do you think should be hosted more often
Oh, anything. I don't really mind. As has been said above, just host what you want as long as you enjoy what you're hosting.
5. do you enjoy luck based games, and why?
Yeah sometimes. I probably should have said this earlier up but for me it's actually not normally about what the game is about. If my friends are in the room and there's loads of people there chatting then I'll enjoy the event no matter what the game is. It's not about what it is it's about the atmosphere, and I'm sure most newcomers to events think the same. That's why I felt so awks last night at the beginning of FJ's Bank Game event basically talking to myself despite the playing area basically being full, but eventually conversation got going and then it was fun.
6. would you prefer to play games you're familiar with or new games
Umm I know there's a question about newcomers further down as well but I'll say this here. I don't mind what games I get to play as long as they're easy to understand and well thought-out, but from what I've seen newcomers like to play games that are well known and established around Habbo. Whenever I look in the navigator, ThisHabbo or something always has an event like Fridge Game that's full to the brim and I think a little (obviously not all) of the reason for this is because we forget that Habbo's random event players (by random I mean ones that aren't stuck to a particular fansite like us) are generally younger and so will like easy to follow games that they know and understand. Y'know, some of them are in it to get their first few pieces of furni because their mum won't let them buy coins on the landline and just want a few easy ways to pick that up. So they might see the name of a new game in the navigator and be like wtf is that and find a game they know, or they won't even see it because it doesn't have the word 'game' in the title and that's what they searched in the navigator. Or if we're lucky they'll come in because it might be a busyish event, but then not understand and when they ask how to play everyone just says READ THE STICKY OBV and so they go and find an event they know they'll understand.
7. put this list of game genres in order from favourite to least favourite:
luck (e.g. bank)
skill (e.g. snake)
racing (e.g. mario kart)
trivia (e.g... trivia)
tactical (e.g. the mole)
1 player challenges (e.g. beat the dragon)
Skill
Luck
1 player challenges - though I'm well aware of the problems due to long queues and people leaving so I'll just say this is personal to me
Racing
Tactical
Trivia - I do sometimes enjoy trivia but I'm so sick of all those trivia nerds bombarding the room with their stereotypical pigtails, the sunken Habbo eyes and sarcastic mottos to take over the event and just play amongst themselves. I don't mind losing because I'm not the best at trivia anyway, but I do mind when it's obvious that no one else even has a shot.
8. what games (or types of) do you think non-habboxers would enjoy most
So I addressed this question a lot earlier up^, but I'll say some extras as well:
-Events they already know and like (e.g Fridge Game, Melting Carpets, Bank Game, etc.)
-Events that are busy and full of chatter that they can get involved in
-Not necessarily pretty rooms, but rooms that show that the host has wealth to a certain extent so they can trust that they'll get a good prize. I don't mean like gold bars and thrones everywhere, and even BC is fine but I just mean we sometimes have had some really really shit rooms at Habbox that embarrass me. FJ's aren't always the most well made and do use BC I think but it is clear that thought has gone into the layout and it just makes him look more trustworthy. I hope that makes sense.
-Events with a fun and engaging host. I'm not asking for a perfect host and everyone slips up from time to time and leaves walkthrough on by accident or something, but it's not difficult to look like you want to be there and are actually enjoying hosting. Just engaging with and chatting to newcomers in the room a bit more seems more fun, and join in a bit on a discussion going on in the room.
9. do you prefer games where you don't have to pay constant attention (e.g. fridge game while waiting for other players) or games that require you to be aware at all times (e.g. don't hit my wall)
Uhh I don't really mind either way, but I do get quite bored when you have to wait aaagesss in Fridge Game or something because there's loads of people waiting. And then people start idling because they've been waiting so long they've gone off to do something else for a bit and forgot to check back, which just holds up the wait even longer.
10. any ideas or suggestions you'd like to give to the events department
Ye like FJ don't host The Sims plzzzz. Anything else I don't mind but I can't stand The Sims. It takes ages and you don't actually do anything except roll a dice and hope for the best - what the heck is all that furniture about?
kk I'm done

1. what are your 3 favourite games to play on habbo
Isolation is pretty fab, tbh that's the only event I actually play lol
If I had to choose two more, melting carpets and bank game
2. what are your 3 least favourite games to play on habbo
Any stupid luck ones e.g don't roll a 6 fridge races etc, I ain't got time to sit there rolling a dice til I lose I want something where I can do tactics
3. what game/s do you think are hosted too much
The fridge ones or don't roll a 6, seems to be something easy the host can throw together and have minimal effort
4. what game/s do you think should be hosted more often
Something big that gets people actually coming like pac man, that's always got a huge queue of non habboxers
5. do you enjoy luck based games, and why?
No lol I wanna actually be involved in the game and it's outcome other than clicking on a dice/fridge
6. would you prefer to play games you're familiar with or new games
I think familiar games but with a new twist, e.g if you haaave to do fridge races why don't you add a lil maze/obstacle course you have to get through to reach the fridge?
7. put this list of game genres in order from favourite to least favourite:
luck (e.g. bank) joint 4
skill (e.g. snake) joint 1
racing (e.g. mario kart) 3
trivia (e.g... trivia) joint 4
tactical (e.g. the mole) 1
1 player challenges (e.g. beat the dragon) 2
8. what games (or types of) do you think non-habboxers would enjoy most
See 4
9. do you prefer games where you don't have to pay constant attention (e.g. fridge game while waiting for other players) or games that require you to be aware at all times (e.g. don't hit my wall)
Attention, otherwise I'll get too distracted and forget I'm playing
10. any ideas or suggestions you'd like to give to the events department
Ummm just host something? Even if you think of there's only 4 people in hxhd what's the point in hosting noone will come, it'll get non habboxers along or atleast give us some publicity even if the event is a tad dead
1. what are your 3 favourite games to play on habbo
isolation
fridge game (is that the one where like a carrot is insta kick)
telephrase
2. what are your 3 least favourite games to play on habbo
stab bcus i'm never fast enough
don't roll a 6
3. what game/s do you think are hosted too much
heaven/hell and stuff like that
4. what game/s do you think should be hosted more often
more team based ones like isolation, also like murder mystery and stuff, unique ones that are fun
5. do you enjoy luck based games, and why?
bcus i'm lazy and enjoy it bcus i don't have to do anything really
6. would you prefer to play games you're familiar with or new games
familiar really but i normally just watch the game first if i don't understand it then join in after
7. put this list of game genres in order from favourite to least favourite:
1: trivia (e.g... trivia)
2: luck (e.g. bank)
3: tactical (e.g. the mole)
4: skill (e.g. snake)
5: racing (e.g. mario kart)
6: 1 player challenges (e.g. beat the dragon)
8. what games (or types of) do you think non-habboxers would enjoy most
any really but we need to POPULATE THE EVENTS FIRST!!!
9. do you prefer games where you don't have to pay constant attention (e.g. fridge game while waiting for other players) or games that require you to be aware at all times (e.g. don't hit my wall)
ones that don't pay constant attention bcus of reasons i stated earlier
10. any ideas or suggestions you'd like to give to the events department
firstly keep up the good and selfless work - it must be pretty annoying when youre hosting and people don't really care/turn up to events, i know I'd feel disheartened if that were me. secondly, i really think we need to gather together as a community and turn up to the fucking events and not just sit in hxhd. we don't HAVE to play to be in the room - just sitting in 'vip' area is getting the room numbers up and therefore boosting us up the room list. we're constantly getting beaten by HabboQuests to name one (not sure about others so won't name the in case i'm wrong) and I understand that in the sense HQ will attract lots of members for their badge guides, but they're RETAINING members because of their welcoming attitudes. i've seen people that aren't familar at habbox almost be cast aside by community members when they should really be socialising with them, chatting to them and keeping them entertained so they leave thinking "oh I hope habbox do another event soon" because that will RETAIN them
1. what are your 3 favourite games to play on habbo
quiz/team quiz (not random 'trivia' that has acronyms about 9 letters long for each topic, actual legit questions), falling furni/jump the fence, bingo.
2. what are your 3 least favourite games to play on habbo
anything that isn't open to lots of players (unless rounds are very short like in individual higher/lower or beat the x etc), so pod racing, dhmw, that sort of things.
3. what game/s do you think are hosted too much
fridge game. boring and often awfully made rooms.
4. what game/s do you think should be hosted more often
ones with higher capacity
5. do you enjoy luck based games, and why?
i enjoy bingo just cos everybody's close together and nobody has control and it's a bit of easy fun
6. would you prefer to play games you're familiar with or new games
whatever as long as it's easy to play
7. put this list of game genres in order from favourite to least favourite:
luck (e.g. bank) 3
skill (e.g. snake)
racing (e.g. mario kart) 7
trivia (e.g... trivia) 2
tactical (e.g. the mole) 4
1 player challenges (e.g. beat the dragon) 5 i like designing and hosting them but i hate when the actual track is in a different room
8. what games (or types of) do you think non-habboxers would enjoy most
easy ones in nice rooms that arent carrot based
9. do you prefer games where you don't have to pay constant attention (e.g. fridge game while waiting for other players) or games that require you to be aware at all times (e.g. don't hit my wall)
constant attention
10. any ideas or suggestions you'd like to give to the events department

thanks for the responses so far xx
not sure how useful it'll be for the actual events department but really it was just for me to see what people would actually like to see hosted (that i also enjoy hosting). it's kinda strange when you're used to hosting tournaments and having people discuss their favourite games and then when you try and implement those ideals with habbox it's not to everyone's liking.
it did make me a little sad last night when i was looking through the navigator and it was the same luck games hosted by all the fansites, so it's defo not just a habbox thing.
for any events staff do any of these answers surprise you or are they what you thought already?

more team based ones like isolation
uwot
secondly, i really think we need to gather together as a community and turn up to the fucking events and not just sit in hxhd.
This massively. Quite often with events whether I'm hosting or someone else is I find myself popping into HxHD to force gently persuade people to get to the event room even if they're not going to actually play
quiz/team quiz (not random 'trivia' that has acronyms about 9 letters long for each topic, actual legit questions)
Yessssss I def want to start doing some quiz events, it's a good laugh and people tend to chat and interact through them
not sure how useful it'll be for the actual events department
It is useful, I was wanting to do a thread asking about favourite events so I could get some stuff ready for HxSS but now I don't have to *+*+*+

QUESTIONS.
1. what are your 3 favourite games to play on habbo
Dodgeball, Steal the Ice Cream 2 v 1 (bit irrelevant), Escape, Grocery Game
2. what are your 3 least favourite games to play on habbo
Trivia, Telephrase, The Mole
3. what game/s do you think are hosted too much
Heaven or Hell, Higher or Lower, Telephrase, Danger Pod, Bank Game
4. what game/s do you think should be hosted more often
Team races, Beat the x, Base wars, Falling Furni, Balloon Races (Pleblings style), Dodgeball, Capture the Flag (Waxs)
5. do you enjoy luck based games, and why?
Don't mind them, but sometimes they are boring and its more fun being constantly engaged rather than clicking and waiting for an outcome which you have no control over.
6. would you prefer to play games you're familiar with or new games
I'm open to new games as long as they are good! But make stickies on htp instead of the host taking 5 mins to explain each round.
7. put this list of game genres in order from favourite to least favourite:
racing (e.g. mario kart)
1 player challenges (e.g. beat the dragon)
skill (e.g. snake)
luck (e.g. bank)
tactical (e.g. the mole)
trivia (e.g... trivia)
8. what games (or types of) do you think non-habboxers would enjoy most
Mainly simple games like heaven or hell, dont roll a 6, bank, higher or lower; however special games like Pac Man seem to get a lot of attention.
9. do you prefer games where you don't have to pay constant attention (e.g. fridge game while waiting for other players) or games that require you to be aware at all times (e.g. don't hit my wall)
Aware most of the time, otherwise i end up multi tasking and missing my go which is no fun for me or the players as it just wastes time.
10. any ideas or suggestions you'd like to give to the events department
Given the lack of events, I feel like we should have more automated ones which require little interaction, this would allow for habbox staff members outside of the events team to host every now and then. I feel like this would be beneficial as it would increase the number of events we host in a week and in turn get our name back on the map :)
Also I feel like we don't really support our events as a community, most of us are in the HxHD. Also little trick to increase room pop could be using those wired kicking things to prevent afkers from leaving, i've seen this done by HQ and it seems to be very effective as the majority are afk yet they manage to keep a high room pop by doing that method.

I'll reply more in full later when I have time but I love skill/tactical/team games. They're my favourite.
I also despise quiz games, I have a TERRIBLE general knowledge... I prefer trivia to any sort of quizzes.

Can't remember what I tried to say instead but I didn't mean isolation woops
