If you could become the manager of any department, which department would it be and what would be your first major change?

marketing manager and then monetise everything and everything

graphics department. the big change i always wanted in the department, they finally did and that was to cut out the middle man and let managers post requests directly. the other change i wanted and still hasn't happened is getting rid of the 547x143 banner size, which i still see around. i also remember thinking senior graphics was a pointless role i'm glad they seem to have stopped doing that.

if i was general manager though i'd freeze all rep and install a like system.

senior just helps to log all the attempts really and makes sure requests are being done, shared with manager ofc!!the standard banner size is still that but it's not enforced, there are a lot more headers without a size at all (just fonts etc) which I soooo prefer personally!!! There is a lot more freedom but people don't like having a free choice haha

If I had to pick a department to manage I think it would have to be either Content (I loved this deaprtment) or Comps (weirdly, but I have ideas that could work which I've obviously shared with Kelly)!!

3 people (agm, manager, senior) all doing that seems over the top.

i agree, they should be the norm. much cleaner, and smaller. usually see a lot of unused space on the other ones and it feels awkward and blocky to look at.

AGM don't do it unless necessary (someone's away etc) . It's definitely a 2 person job though, especially when the department is full!

I'd have to say the Content department. The first thing I would do is go through all of those pages that have yet to be worked on, or ones that people have messed up and put them back into construction.
Reason being is I just checked the Habbox Mole page and whoever edited it last messed it up and removed last year's season.
So yeah.

For somebody who loves winding people up and dishing out the abuse, you don't half get sensitive over nothing.

You're the one who last edited it ;), last year's has never been added, you could add it if you want :P.

I'm not sure what I would manage, I've done a few managerial roles, but I wouldn't really want to manage something different, perhaps just revisit ones. I'd probably prefer to manage Rare Values, but in its peak instead.

Lolololol. That's hilarious. The last time I looked at it, it had it on there ... unless I had a dream it was.

I don't know I don't think I'd particularly want to manage any department. I do think everyone who isn't in the role thinks it's the easiest thing to fix up each department and that it just takes time and effort and all the other standard Hx Feedback cliches, but it's always much harder than you're expecting.

That's not to say that new ideas that people in here have are rubbish and I'm sure some of them would actually be extremely beneficial, but would those people also really be willing to commit the time it takes to bring a department back up? Idk.

Rv so I could make it actually have a purpose, though probably doesn't help it's still on v6.

A content manager recently never controlled what trialists were editing and they fucked a lot of content up on the site and on the wiki which is a real shame.

If you can give me access when I have time I can do so. :) Because I brought it up. Lol. If you want. Hahaha.
That would have allowed for a lot of things not being messed with. But good thing with the wiki is you can revert information back to original revisions.

I choose AGM Staff.

I would fire all the inactive people and steal staff from other fansites create a new recruitment drive :)

probably rare values and make it much simpler to use, get an easy site display made by graphics team with very little coding and display only actual rare items (ltds, teleports and ultra rares) that don't have high volumes already in the marketplace. catalogue all low volume/desirable number ltds and keep track of owners and #s of the most sought after as i did with the pink dragon wiki page last year. have a monthly trawl through all active norms in the old database and update prices all in one go and do this regularly so if people want prices for less active items they can still have access to a slightly dated but useful list. explain drastic price changes on the page with short description and/or links to furni line release/bundle pages on wiki. actually keep an up to date list of bundle releases and their contents as well as diamond deals.

rv and content could work well together if any of the staff knew anything about rares or cared to find out

also is marketing manager an actual thing lol i figured it was just a usertitle what's the job involve

Apart from the site stuff which we can't do this is exactly what I want too!! Especially with our links to ultra rare trade we should be able to make a good crack, just finding time to set it up cos it's a big project for someone new to get thrown into :( :(

Fancy comin back ;) ;)

Rare Values or maybe nowadays Articles.

And I wouldn't have a grand plan because I never have before and usually grand plans mean a manager coming in and changing things for the sake of it or to put their mark on a department. The countless sticky threads that a new manager predictably writes everytime they gain the position is mind-numbing.

I never got that, like having a new handbook every different manager, it's only needed when necessary.

AGM Staff would actually be interesting, I would also fire those inactive ones and look at why some staff don't even come on the forum!

I ruined the history too I thought.

Quite nice seeing a thread stuck from a manager from ten years ago when it was first founded as a department. Used to do my head in people unsticking!

Struggling to think of something I haven't already managed that I would enjoy or see as a challenge haha! For sure my favourite two management positions here have always been News (now articles) and AGM Community.

Like others though, I would choose the old AGM Staff role as I think sometimes it's the missing bridge between departments and ensuring that managers and staff are doing their jobs as efficiently as possible and removing the deadwood. It's also a pretty good cover for when the other AGM's are away or focusing on a particular project for their area. I think another important reason would be for increasing moral and getting staff working together more and ironing out any issues they may have with each other/management/other managers so that everyone can work successfully together. I think one of the big issues a lot of the time is keeping staff motivated, ensuring they are given enough praise for their work and the same with managers really. I think some people see each department as very individual and don't always fully appreciate that we're all part of a much bigger team and that it takes communication and collaboration in order to make something work well. Staff engagement on the client isn't always as great as it can be also and some people don't always represent us as a fansite too well. I think an inter-staff tournament could be quite fun too to get the team feeling back.

Fun fact: I almost became AGM staff back in 2010 I think it was (I can't remember exactly when it was) but Garion changed his mind at the last minute and stayed! :P

I didnt mean controlled in the way you have taken my comment. More in the way that they have edited/removed some accurate and detailed information and then seniors/managers not properly looking at their actual edits to see if they were any good and letting their bad edits stay on the site/wiki.

Samanfa; I wouldn't like to mention any names!
Martin; iirc Garion was going to leave but was persuaded to stay by Matt/Jin.
