60,000 men from across the empire/commonwealth torn to shreds in a living hell this very night 100 years ago
i went the somme region and visited the graveyards and battlefields a few years back, really is moving when you're there. still moves me now thinking about men my age and even younger. it literally was a hell on earth and it's hard to know how they ever kept any morale being there.
quite possibly the most absurd war in world history, something europe will never and has never recovered from.

if you can do one thing in tribute just have a quick read of it. one of the bloodiest battles in human history with hundreds of men our age from streets where you live now, possibly even lived in your house, being blown up, buried alive, drowned, bayoneted and burned alive every single minute.
