It is now possible to add an extra step of security on your HabboxForum account by enabling Two-factor authentication. What is it I hear you shout?! Well Two-factor Authentication or otherwise known as 2FA lets you ensure only trusted networks have access to your forum account. This uses your smartphone (iOS or Android) to validate login attempts from new IP addresses.

Two-Factor Authentication lets you ensure only trusted networks have access to your account, by using your smartphone to validate login attempts from new IP addresses.

This two-factor authentication option uses the popular Google Authenticator app on your smartphone which is available for iOS and Android. You use this app to pair your forum account with the authenticator. When you first enable 2FA a recovery key is also shown on the forum during the setup process. It is best you keep a copy of this somewhere safe and secure because if you ever lose your phone then you can use this recovery key to regain access to your forum account.

Setup Process

1. Go on your Apple iPhone or Android device and open up the App Store and search for "Google Authenticator" and download the app. Here is the two links to the official application on either store so you know what you are looking for.

iOS - https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/google-authenticator/id388497605?mt=8
Android 2.3.3 and up - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.authenticator2&hl=en_GB

2. On HabboxForum go to User CP > My Account > Two-Factor Authentication

3. Click on "Enable Two-Factor Authentication"

4. Open up the Google Authenticator on your smartphone and either A) Scan the QR code or B) Enter the key in manually.

5. The Google Authenticator app on your smartphone will give you a code. Put that code into the box on the forum.

6. Once you have entered the code it will have successfully enabled Two-Factor Authentication on your forum account.

It will then automatically trust the network/IP you enabled the 2FA on.

What happens next?

Well, any new network you sign into the forum with it will straight away ask you to put in a code that can only be provided by the Google Authenticator that you have installed on your phone. This code refreshes every so often as you will see a count down on the app.

Once you have entered that code it will that IP to the "trusted" section and won't ask you again for a code. It will only ask you for a new code if it detects the IP address has changed.
If an invalid code is entered it won't allow to you use the forum until a correct code has been entered.

Do I need to use this?

This is optional and will always be optional. You can enable and disable it at any time.

If you have any problems with this contact myself the current General Manager: ..
