Currently taking place in Munich right now:

Police in the German city of Munich say the perpetrators of a shooting attack are still on the run, and they advise people to avoid public places.

Police are not confirming earlier reports of several deaths.

A big security operation is under way at the Olympia shopping centre in the north-western Moosach district.

Shop workers have been unable to leave the building. There is no information about a possible motive for the attack.

The security forces have been on alert after a teenage migrant stabbed and injured five people on a train in Bavaria on Monday in an attack claimed by so-called Islamic State.

The authorities had warned of the danger of further attacks.

There was a shooting at a McDonalds I think - or was that in the mall?

Inseriousity.

Unusual that they managed to get away. Most of these attacks tend to center around one area. Probably a lot of panic if that's the case. Hope they catch them before they take any more lives

you know what's so bad about all these attacks? is that 'concern' for them has been decreasing after every attack because it's becoming so common

if this had happened about a year ago i guarantee this thread would have at least 2 pages of replies with constant updates

we are become used to living in a society like this and it's awful!

honestly I'm sick of the prayfor____ hashtags, I don't hate people for using them and it's a nice thing to do but it's the same old cycle of 'praying' and waiting for the next one - we need real action NOW!!!!

tbh im kinda getting more concerned because it's like they're all trying to out do each other, it probably gives motivation to other would be terrorists out there :/ to get famous/be a martyr etc

but at the same time yes, none of it is really surprising since its happening so often.

like what though (if it is an islamic attack as we expect and as rumours say)

all the people who've got solutions are decried as racist: marine le pen in france, donald trump in america, wilders in holland. meanwhile we've got a crazy bitch running germany who invited a million radicalised undocumented muslim people in, a french president who retains open borders and high levels of islamic immigration to his country despite countless attacks and president Obama who won't even say the enemy's name Islamic State for fear of offence.

agreed with buttons; that they'll start going worse to gain attention. expect more targets like children and more torture (http://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattvespa/2016/07/15/horrific-account-of-torture-mutilation-by-isis-attackers-who-stormed-bataclan-concert-hall-n2193189) too (which France may have covered up)

Are you kidding me?! This is just getting ridiculous now. RIP and Condolences. Europe needs to do something about this.

The problem with attempting any kind of real retaliation is that ISIS don't really belong to any one area of the world; attacking their supposed strongholds is only going to drive them into further "underground" positions where they can hide behind civilians and spread their message covertly while everyone sane rubs their hands in glee thinking we've done well until the next attack. It's a sad state of affairs but preparation is key rather than public anger and more radicalisation

something will only be done about it once terrorists start directly targeting the leaders and ministers of western governments and/or their families.

then something will be done, you can guarantee it.

At the minute they are saying there is no links to ISIS

The gunman who killed nine people in Munich was obsessed with mass shootings and had an obvious link to Norwegian mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik, German police say.

Police who searched the 18-year-old's room say they found written material on attacks.

The gunman, who later killed himself, had a 9mm Glock pistol and 300 bullets.

Police are investigating whether he may have lured his victims through a Facebook invitation to a restaurant.

He is suspected of using a fake account under a girl's name to invite people to the McDonald's restaurant where he launched his attack.

I don't know what the solution is but I haven't noticed any proper changes in the last 2 years which show an effort is being made - tbh even if trump (or other politicians) banned muslims, builds walls or whatever it will definitely won't end terror attacks - nearly always the attacks are committed by someone who grew up in the country and are easily accessing ISIS material online or elsewhere

also i know it seems that this wasn't an ISIS related attack but imagine if labour were in charge of this country rn jesus christ!
