thought this would be an interesting one
so, apart from the obvious - the weather - what are the things European countries do better than Britain in your eyes? in other words if there's one thing you think Britain lacks and could add/import from the continent what would it be
i'm going to say the markets. i absolutely love walking around the markets they have, especially food. most markets in Britain now (and it never used to be this way in Victorian times) basically sell knock off trainers, track suits and dvds. it's depressing. go to Barcelona or somewhere though and the markets sell local fresh fruit, vegtables, meat... you name it.
take Liverpool. years ago we had a market like Borough Market in London (aka a proper market) and in the 1960s that was replaced with well... a giant pound land complex basically. very sad. i'd love to have a real market in my own city again
so what about you?

The wednesday market in Worthing is cracking for cheapo food but the best thing about Europe is that when I went to Berlin it was not only the CLEANEST place in the entire world but also bacon cheeseburgers in McDonalds were only a Euro what a bloody bargain

I don't think it is different to the UK version. I think what it is, you're over there and it's probably hot. Fanta Lemon will more refreshing in those conditions to what we are used to back home.
That was after a quick google, I couldn't find much on it. It was more Fanta US vs European
What do I think is better?
Depends where you go but a lot of European places seem to have better public transport. For example, I went to Dubrovnik in August and the bus system there is pretty top notch. Regular buses and they have a very simple ticket system.
I remember Rome having good underground system as well. Maybe after a while it would feel like the UK public transport where it can be a pain in the arse.
This is also depends on where you go and I don't now if it's just because of tourism but there is a lot of clean places. Like Dubrovnik again was pretty much clean.

You can add bacon to cheeseburgers for free, just like you can add extra onions etc. Apparently... according to my friend who worked their.
Also really xxMATTGxx; I'm not the only person I know to say that so thats disappointing lol

The market in my city is a legit market. There's bread, cheese, flowers, fruit and veg, handmade cakes, a few gimmicky ones but who cares, an OSTRICH BURGER stall on sundays, fish, you name it! So dan maybe ur just going to the wrong markets!!
I tell u what britain does do better than europe tho (I know this is the opposite of what the thread says) and that's CRISPS. Crisps on the mainland are crap.
I've always thought England is far too commericalised - there are very few small businesses. I went to Rome recent and the amount of small restaurants/shops was amazing to see.

Meat (ham, primarily), cheese and ice cream for sure.
Vegans rejoice.

Ohhh yes you're so right about ham. I can go into the co op in Italy and buy their packet ham and it's DELICIOUS. It's so weird!
