good places in Europe help! [+rep]

my friends getting married in July and so we all wanted to take him to somewhere in Europe for like a stag-do or whatever.
don't think he wants it to be one of those long weekends where you don't remember anything and feel awful at the end - but it would be nice to go somewhere that's just interesting and fun yknow.

Not quite sure where to go - but would really really appreciate any recommendations.

Barcelona in Spain is absolutely beautiful.

Great nightlife but also great restaurants, history and has a beach too which you don't get with every large city.

The Gothic Quarter is sooooooo so so so nice it's hard to say how vast and interesting it is. You go down little alley's and there's all Spanish shops, markets, cafes, restaurants, hidden bars. If you do go Barcelona then stay near here. Also 'La Rambla' is nearby here.
