I loved Sidari in Corfu and I'd love to try Crete or some of the other Greek islands. Cheap, lovely people, beautiful scenery and nice beaches, great food and loads of day trips!!

Where should we go for our holiday?
It needs to be touristy so loads to do not just sat at a beach or something.. I like the idea of Iceland but it's expensive so need something almost as good.

What's wrong with Greece? Okay I get France and Germany if you want to have like a hot holiday. Egypt, I can understand due to events happening there. But why no to Greece?

There are regular strikes, sometimes called at short notice, that can cause disruption to public transport (including air travel and ports).
Demonstrations take place regularly in central Athens, and have also taken place in other towns and cities. There may also be demonstrations in reaction to developments in Greece’s negotiations with its international creditors.
There is a general threat from terrorism and acts of political violence. See Terrorism
I'm thinking Canary islands but that's up to buttons; ultimately

1. Protests and strikes can happen in ANY country.
2. Terrorism is on high alert around the world
3. Don't go to Athens then or mainland Greece, try a Greek Island. There are many lovely Greek Islands such as Kos, Zante, Rhodes and Crete. (Can't remember any others if they are)
Obviously it's your choice but it seems all you did is go to the GOV.UK site and said "Yeah not going Greece" :P

This is why I avoided Las Vegas, then clearly I went in to stupid mode as I wrote New York, Miami and "Sand" Francisco... oppsss.
Greece is a wonderful place. I have been to Crete, Rhodes, Athens, Olympia and Santorini.
Santorini is as good as all of the pictures you've seen.
