mumps

other day when i flew back from the states i knew i was coming down with something cos family had been ill there and i was just praying not to fall ill while travelling cos there's nothing worse. anyway the usual, apetite started going, felt sick, bit achey etc. continued into next few days like a fever but tbh wasn't as bad as a normal one.

anyway i wake up like on tuesday with my face all swollen i've never ever had anything like it before. typed in what i had etc and i was convinced it was mumps. so went doctors for first time in like 5 years via emergency appointment and in end it turned out i didn't have mumps and it was just a virus

i'm better now and it went down etc but it got me wondering if anyone has ever had that before cos i had no idea your face could swell up from a standard viral infection or fever. really strange and never heard of it before

i said to my brother it looks like i've got those bubble cheeks you can get on Habbo :P

so has anyone else ever have their face swell up from illness?

I've actually had mumps!! Had all the vaccinations but managed to get it anyway. Had pancreatitis and oophoritis (swelling of pancreas & ovaries) as well as swollen nodes (face) - was in excruciating pain and actually ended up in hospital for a week.

Was so painful I was on 3 kinds of painkillers - they took so long to test me properly that they admitted after I should have been on morphine at first. Couldn't eat and actually lost a stone, I was so weak when I got out I couldn't actually walk and all I did for about a fortnight after was sleep. This was Christmastime 2012, my first day where I was supposed to be back to my normal self was Xmas eve!

Nope ive never had it. My sister has though. It went quite quickly though with rest and these tablets from the doctor!

and yeah you've obv had it hard. it was weird cos i was thinking how can it be mumps when i dont feel half as bad as with normal virus
