I recently have been elected in my new workplace to become the health and safety representative and was wondering who else is involved in their health and safety board at work.
I know everyone should be taking that extra step to provide their best towards health and safety in just their everyday work ethics, but who here has taken up responsibility of being their representative?

Nope that's a management role but I am one of a handful of first aiders just bc I have to take a first aid course every year for guides and guide camp anyway.

Nah, Like Empired said that's more a management role but we do regular risk assessments especially since we do sometimes have service users come in so we have to make sure they are coming into a risk free environment.

If you're the health and safety representative, you're gonna have one hell of a stressful time if there are inspections and what have you.

Yeah, as the representative, there will be inspections that myself and the manager will do every week along with monthly check lists. I'll also be the voice during monthly meetings where all the stores (I work for a food chain) come together and bring questions and concerns up from the individual stores.

Its a senior management position that deals with that at work. However as a senior memeber of staff I have qualifications to do with health and safety, first aid and food safety and hygeine.

I'm a site first aider simply because I know and care about the health and safety of people more than anyone else. But, in workplace health and safety sense, I'm not about to be telling people off for not doing x, y and z, someone else can do that! :)
