Is there anything you dont like/would change about your job if you could?

I wouldnt change my job but as my job is listening to people who are depressed/suicidal etc. Sometimes it can be emotionally draining. But I do learn a lot from my job.

What about you?

More money of course and more staff. Currently operating with only 9 staff when we need at least another 6 but apart from that I wouldn't change it.

Eh. Not really. I actually like what I do. I get to meet some really nice people and ultimately I work with fantastic people. My shifts are great and can't complain about them. I never have to work past 3pm.

Wow, does sound like a great job. It must allow you to have a lot of free time to do whatever you want to do, like hobbies etc.

Interesting! I work at Dairy Queen. Often times we have people that come through the drive thru that I deal with that just don't speak up and get angry when I have to ask them to repeat and such. Ugh, does it make me frustrated.

I've only ever had one proper job which I was paid for and I quit that yesterday!

I absolutely hated it and was going to carry it on until I got another one but I realised life is too short and there's no point doing something that makes you bored/miserable

I was basically an administrator for this woman who taught foriegn people english and I absolutely hated it. I done all her boring adminy jobs which just really drained me, I wanted more of a people interaction but she'd always give me jobs like making documents and brochures
Didn't like how personal it was either, she'd expect me to do stuff for free and I'm not confident enough to say no

right now I want a retail job or something where I can constantly be working with people and chatting to them and not have to worry about my job when I go home!!

thank god i quit that place tho

In some ways though it helped you gain confidence and more experience and made you realise what you actually wanted to do. Like when I was at school my art teacher approached me after my exam and he told me that I should go into do something art related because I could go far in art so I was obviously flattered and decided to do art at college but then I realised I preferred doing art in my own time rather than as a job and it made me realise that what I really wanted to do was work in the care industry and now I've been looking after people which I love doing for the past 6 years or so. So there's a positive about that job that maybe you haven't seen yet? :)

Try something like stocking shelves in retail. Standing on your feet for large amounts of time is physically draining, so as long as you can sit or even kneel for a few minutes, that'll really help.

I work at a golf club as a F&B superviser. With between 200-300 people coming through the gates a day plus events, we don't have enough staff and being a prestigious golf club turning over around £6m a year in membership, most of the staff are on or just above the NLW.

i do quite like my job, it's nice and i love all my local customers. there's days when it sucks, but the good days far outweigh it. ive had a lot of abuse that's made me cry and i've had to go chill out for a bit, but it becomes a funny memory that all the staff bitch about together and how silly some customers can be when they take out their anger on you over something you've no control over. it's not a forever job but for now it will do.

Yeah I like my job, and at the moment I can't see myself doing anything else. I work in retail and although there will be some negative things about it (we've just had a meeting about posting about our work negatively on social media so I won't go into that stuff much), but overall I do like it!

In August I will have done the job for 5 years, and I've applied for a promotion twice, but both times I was overlooked (I wish I'd have been told I had no chance because I'd have applied just for the interview experience and wouldn't have needed to stress at all). I'm the person every customer sees when they first walk in, I also have to look out for shoplifters and shifty customers as well! The wage is above the minimum which is good as well.

It sounds like you were wrongly overlooked tbh! Do you think you'll apply again if a position comes up?

I work in a supermarket, it's an alright job and the people are good so I can't complain too much. I think the only downside is the laziness of some people on my department who chose to do the easy thing rather than the right thing that'll make it easier for everyone else, it gets annoying having to tidy up others mess when it would have taken them a minute just to do it themselves. I have realised I do want to move on something else though, something that I genuinely do want to do but I think it'll be a while before I find anything like that, I need to move town for better opportunities and/or actual start working towards it in other ways.

Be less labour intensive somehow, half the day working in the office, half the day working.

I would burn my work place to the ground if I could. Okay, maybe not — but I hate it. Gave in my notice today and felt so liberated.
