Dear all,
After numerous hours of thinking about this idea, if I was to make a platform where you could showcase your fansite and having a voting system etc and each month the winner would gain a prize. Would you do it?

Wasn't there recently a team fansite or something, did it just die?

I'm pretty sure this was already a thing that @Jazzy (https://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=75795); & @Jamez (https://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=93499); made called team fansites and I don't think its a thing anymore, not sure what happened there but yeah it's been done before. :)
@scottish (https://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=53890); beat me to it, but yeah don't think it's even a thing anymore.
teamfansites was more a support network for official and unofficial sites than a voting system, we bridged away from the voting system on the basis that it would cause basically fansite drama, and salt. Also a few fansites didn't want to involve themselves with us on the basis that we ourselves weren't official and they didn't mix with unofficials regardless of the circumstance. Hence why we decided to not put ourselves out for these sites but felt unfair to not include all the sites, even if they didn't want our help. It was a good idea (our twitter interaction) and it did prove successful and we did branch out and supported quite a few unofficial fansites but the forum site wasn't as good. I wouldn't personally use a voting website, it would be similar to retro voting and I think would be abused by big sites in order to win prizes so wouldn't be a fair game for the smaller or unofficals but good luck!
I feel it would be a waste of time and money for the person trying to maintain it.
But if it does go through, hopefully the person is willing to stick through it as we have seen many things like fansites, etc. With such motivation for out and just close.

Nope, there isn't any need for it. Might have worked back in the day but certainly not now.

Probably not, fansites just don't draw in the amount of users as they use to!

Depends really on what the fansite is doing to draw in users :)

Doesn't sound half bad. Maybe try making help for people wanting to start their own fansite too.

Hey,
Thanks for all the comments, I have taken the time to read them all and think about each and every individual comment. I will be going ahead with this, and will be offering support to startup fansites etc. As well as the reward system it it will differ from official and unofficial to keep it fair.
There's totally no point in these. It's something that used to be done in death in 2004 / 2005 and it didn't work back then except everyone used to do them. I can't forgot what they were called and it's going to bug the hell out of me all day. You wont gain any traffic as if you visit once you'll get a list of the sites you like / hate then have no need to ever return back again as you can go straight to the fansite you want to visit.
Fansites are pointless; I'd take your skills and try to make something that actually has a market to gain users. For example Habbo only has approximately 3k users max now I believe; if you were to gain 10% of that, that's only 300 users which is nothing. Even the big sites ie. Habbox are dead nowadays and half the users just come on here for nostalgic reasons or to talk to people they've known for years.
This is advice from someone who used to piss about with fansites years ago when there a hell of a lot more people about and if I had the chance I'd go back and actually do something productive / useful instead.
Good luck though.
