I know a lot of things they put arent actually true they just do it to catch peoples attention.

sometimes yes but when you study media you tend to see through the crap more

I know there's always two sides to one story and the media often only show the side that gets the most views/money. So I'm skeptical of it.

i read news a lot so i can usually tell which journalists are best to go to for X or Y story or not

generalising the media is never gonna end well for anyone involved

as a general rule yes though but you should never take anyone's word for anything, especially in america where there's no un-partisan sites (like our BBC, even though that's been accused of leanings...) as far as I know?

I'd never trust a controversh story from one site though without backing it up somehow!
