I thought everyone knew this. It's to do with the lithium used within I think; the battery's meant to cut out every several years apparently.

That's partly to do with why I bought a Creative Zen Touch instead. The battery isn't as expensive and more reliable.

It used to have a page on battery life saying that it only lasted 18 months on average and that you can send off your old i-pod to them for some rip of price like £80 for a new one.

Wow thats good. I am jealous. But I like the design of an iPod mini so ill stay with that. Plus im not gonna need anymore than 1000 songs. If i get up to that ammount ill delete old ones. :)

Oops my mistake, the battery replacement is $59, but its probably more expensive for people in the UK as you have to pay shipping fees. Its cost my friend around £80 tho.

We're talking about long-term battery durability. :]

I dunno about you lot, but if I spent 250 on an iPod, I don't wanna spend about £50 every 18 months...

Loads of things do this, tv's are actually designed to break after about 3-4 years, so you know when you tv just suddenly stops working with no trace of breaking. Its that.
