The logic is why it would work, your longest period would be birth until your first relationship (say your first serious relationship was at 14). 'unless you're older' would be ignored as if that was 14 years single then you broke up the day later you'd only be single for the past 10 years.

So your birth until first relationship is longer period of being single.

If people are considerably older than it's possible that there is a longer period of being single other than birth to first serious relationship.

Sure but I mean when youre younger its hardly likely you wont have a serious relationship till youre at least 18 or so.

Had my first boyfriend at around 14, but it wasn't anything serious. As for serious relationships, we broke up, but we got back together after that. However, that was the longest that I've been single since I was 16 (nearly 17 with my first serious relationship) so 4 months!
