Apparently called at 3am last night - even senior staff at Balmoral Castle (in highlands of Scotland) required to attend.

I saw that there was rumours it was Prince Charles but I guess that isn't the case. Bit strange to call an emergency meeting at 3am though.

That was anti climatic. I was expecting something a bit more exciting if an emergency meeting was called.

That's actually surprising. I never expected His Royal Highness to stop if he could help it.
I guess this is similar to when Prince Consort Henrik of Denmark (husband of reigning Queen Margrethe II of Denmark) retired from public life a couple of years ago on reaching the age of 80. It'll be interesting to see what official functions Prince Philip still takes part in if any at all: State Opening of Parliament? State Banquets? State visits?
