Soooo GBBO is back on, are you watching it or boycotting?

I decided to watch it but I'm actually feeling really bored so far. Noel Fielding is in boring mode rather than weird mode and I don't like Prue Leith so I'm v underwhelmed!! :(

Not that I ever watched it anyway but I can't stand Noel Fielding so not tempted in any way :P

I'm gonna try it and see how I feel, that's if I can find it on YouTube. I've heard mixed opinions so far, so we'll see. I don't have high expectations!

Similar to Richard Ayoade, I feel that Noel Fielding is okay in small doses, but otherwise comes across as some sort of exaggerated character that is a bit too aggravating to spend time with. Sandi Toksvig is a bit over-saturated recently, too. No idea who Pure Leaf is. Never watched the Bake Off, though. Don't understand what's so riveting about cooking/baking.

I thought he was much more toned down in this - even my mum liked him....

"pure leaf" has killed me btw

Bring back Mel & Sue!

I'm a massive fan of bake off and I'm always so impressed by the talent shown on the show, for example this year the guy who made that sandwich completely out of chocolate cake, it looked amazing! But I was completely let down by the hosts, they made it so boring and they had no banter whatsoever, it just didn't fit..

Alright so my three initial opinions after finding the first episode on YouTube was I miss Mel and Sue. Tbh not overly fussed about Mary, loved her but Prue seems to do a fine job. Noel and the other lady were okay but definitely seemed like they were pushing for laughs, not calm and casual like M&S anyway. Plus one of the contestants tried helping what's her name to get laughs and she ignored it.

Have they never seen an airbrush before???? Like maybe it's the first time someone's used it in the tent but fgs airbrushing cakes has been around for decades why are they losing their shit? I mean the sandwich looked pretty good but not like 'omfg an airbrush!!!!' good.

Also a Paul Hollywood handshake has gone from the value of a throne to like a HC Sofa. What happened the the rarity? Two in the first episode wth?

"Pure Leaf" :D

I definitely miss Mel and Sue, but I think it's too early to make a full judgement just yet. Sometimes it takes me a while to get used to new people!

Completely agree with the bolded part. It used to be such a huge deal when you got a handshake and it used to always happen later on in the series so for it to happen the first episode seems really silly but I guess they must of deserved it!

I really liked it, hope it does well throughout the series. :)

I've never seen an episode of it before so I enjoyed this one but I have nothing to judge it against. I do feel like Noel and the other woman seem a bit out of their comfort zone though, it's better to have people who can host and be effortlessly funny in that sort of situation, if that makes sense. I just feel like neither of them know anything about baking or the show and are just trying to understand it and be funny but it's not really working.
