Zimbabwe: Tanks on the streets of Harare as Army seizes control of TV stations

- President Robert Mugabe is the world's oldest Head of State at age 93
- Mugabe's party, ZANU-PF, has ruled the country as a dictatorship since the beginning
- Formerly a British colony known as Rhodesia, Zimbabwe became independent in 1980

Looks like a coup is currently underway in the Republic of Zimbabwe.

If so.. I have waited years for this moment.

Let's hope we see him swinging from a lamp post before long. A man and his cronies who took Rhodesia, the breadbasket of Africa, and turned it into a backwater - murdering white farmers in their hundreds/thousands. A marxist dictator and a racist (an actual racist) he certainly doesn't deserve to die in office a free man as I feared he would.

Justice for Rhodesia at last?

Hang the ****er.I don't know a lot about the situation but a lot of people are pointing out the fact that the same people who are trying to force him to stand down are the same people who have also kept him in power, possibly helped rig elections and what not. Makes you wonder if his successor will be just as bad

Almost certainly if not worse. Mnangagwa is the bloke set to take over and this entire coup happened because he got fired by Mugabe - this is not about freedom or making things better, it's about a powerful man showing that he WILL rule

He's gone after 37 years in power. Aged 93.

If there's an image that sums up his terrible rule (along with his friend & fellow terrorist Nelson Mandela) it's this one... Rhodesia and South Africa taken and destroyed within a few decades after hundreds of years of development. All ruined and thrown away.

Interesting fact that this now makes Queen Elizabeth II, aged 91, the world's oldest serving Head of State.
