Forum skin clearout!

Hello everyone!!

I have BAD NEWS for some of you... we are streamlining the forum officially! The first thing on my list is to remove some old skins to help us with updates etc. I already have an idea of which ones we don't need any more but I wanted to ask all you if you had MAJOR ISSUES with any of the below:

GOOD NEWS: we have another skin based off mountains launching in the next few days!

Default skin

The Dojo - STAYING (and probably get an update soon)

Newer skins

Habbox Site Skin (Version 7) - STAYING!
Habbox Mountains - STAYING
Habbox Universe - STAYING
Habbox _____ - NEW!!

Other skins

Habboxed - super modern, very non-habbo - STAYING!
Classic skin - CLASSIC old school 2006 skin - STAYING!

PROPOSED SKINS TO BE REMOVED

That would mean the following are being removed (with their reasons)

Non Habbo Light, Habbox Pink and Non Habbo Dark - all the same skin (with colour changes), very outdated and old-looking

Site Skin 2010 and 2011 - we have new site skin!!

Avenger - Universe is your new go-to dark skin!


Post below if you have reasons to keep the ones on the kill list!!! I'll review them all before making a decision :)

It is light but that’s the point of pastel!! Are there bits in particular you think are too light? Happy to edit!!

Pastel are pale colours, not light colours. It's just terribly bright all over, with a lot of light colours on light backgrounds making it a bit ugly.

The colours you see on the forum are picked from the header (which took ages to find something like I wanted!!!)

If you could share screenshots or particular issues that would be great; I’ve tested it on the 3 monitors I have and the colours were definitely all readable, but I completely understand it might be different for other people and happy to make adjustments!!

I'm not sure screenshots would adequately display the problem, as it does seem related to individual monitors. The skin as it is is just too bring for me, and I like pastel colours and have even made a pastel themed patchwork quilt in my time (to fit a double sized bed; took two weeks). But if I tilt my screen all the way back and lower the brightness a bit, it looks really good (although the banner is a little bland). I think all the colours need to drop a couple shades of brightness, but if nobody has said this before then maybe it's my monitor.

I'm really liking the pastel skin, I'm using it now just to have a little look and I can see everything no problem on my monitor. Gonna have to go back to Dojo now though because I'm a creature of habit

Yeah I prefer a bit of contrast between everything which is why I use site skin and couldn't use pastel, it's nice and I like the header thingy but too much white for my liking :P that's not to say no-one should use it obv

I’m really not gonna be able to remove it am I....

Can I just say why they’re being removed; each of these new fonts and fancy VIPs need to be added to each style and it takes such a long time to go through and test when we have so many live! It doesn’t seem like a good use of my time to do that, when they’re so old and outdated!

Pastel is nice, a little hard on the eyes though (white on the light colours). I'll stick with Mountains, theres just something I like about it.

Pastel is cute, but my only gripe with it, and also mountains and universe is no link to the activity stream! The white text at the top of posts is hard to see on the yellow and blue backgrounds too. I use Site Skin 2011 still but will probably change to pastel.

I'm playing around with all skins at the moment, tweaking bits and re-organising them so I'm able to compromise by keeping most/all skins active but reducing the amount of work I have to do each time. Most skins had their own CSSes so nothing has changed, but I'll take a look at Classic in a bit. Thanks for reporting!

Can you show me what the Classic skin was like before? Having issues figuring out how wide to make it! Was it like this?

Also, was the main index the same width as the threads or was it less wide?

whacking the body to be 96.7% is pretty much what it needs to be just by having a quick fiddle
also technically .body_wrapper padding needs to be 1 or 2px less not that it really matters, just something i noticed when looking for the width

almost seems like its using some kind of default settings for some things

That's a very weird number though, why would it be set to that?

It probably is inheriting something now as it's under a parent style so I can put fonts in in just one place instead of 30 (as previously discussed!)

Think I've fixed it now though (put it as margins 2% and width auto)?

oh not suggesting it was actually set as 96.7%, literally just whacked in 100% and went down by the tenths and it was roughly that size to my eye
