View Full Version : The Great Habbox Bake Off - TASK 1

It's that time of year again when we're all going baking crazy here in the UK, and spending our Tuesday evenings watching The Great British Bake Off. I have heard that Habbox had a Bake Off last year hosted by @FlyingJesus (https://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=24753); (or should I say Merry Barry?) and it looked like lots of fun, so let's do it again!
I will set a baking challenge and you will have 2 weeks to complete the task. I know many of you are very busy, so two weeks should give you time to join in if you'd like to. To prove the bake is your own, a handwritten note with your forum/habbo name must be photographed with your cake, and posted below. So show off your creations and let's find out who is the bake off champion!
Prize for the best bake per task: 20c, Comps VIP, and a medal https://habbox.com/assets/images//9696d996813e9da888076e6e21226094.png!
Task 1
Cupcakes!
http://www.pngmart.com/files/5/Cupcake-Transparent-Background.png
Definition: a small cake baked in a cup-shaped foil or paper container
Deadline - 30th September 1pm BST
Feel free to comment on this thread, chat about entries & tag/challenge others to a bake off :D
Ready... Steady.. BAKE!

I've baked maybe a maximum of 10 cakes and stuff over the last two years now lol :( so sad
Still like doing fancy stuff but it's sooo much effort and I don't ever have enough time after work or on my days off or anything
BUT I have some free time on Tuesday so maybe I'll make something for old times sake huh

I made some banana and choc chip muffins yesterday :-) They are really yummy and the choc chips didnt sink to the bottom..wahoo! I then decided to ice them & add some sweeties we had in the cupboard.... I stupidly done this while the kitchen was still warm, doh!! I can’t win my own competition so I thought I’d post anyway. Ta-da!

So your butter has to be as close to room temperature as you can first of all or it won't combine with the sugar correctly.
After that you might be getting the quantities wrong? I always go for 200g butter to 300g icing sugar, add a few drops of whatever flavour I want like lemon juice, vanilla extract, rose water, whatever. Then if it's too thick I add a splash of milk til it's good, and if it's too gloopy then just add more icing sugar til it thickens up.
Sometimes temperature is just wrong and it's a bitch to do though.

Look great RuthOnToast; and Empired; ! I’ve always wanted to make those ruth, I can never find the rainbow sweets though???

I stiffen my icing & piping bag in the fridge for a bit usually. This time i was too impatient ..! Also, do you buy yours premade? I found the premade from morrisons never work well. I think it was you who said you shop at morrisons so just a thought. I’m interested to hear empired’s tips, and if the icing was premade or not, and if so - where from?! I’ve only ever had success with lakeland. xx

Thank you for the recipe, maybe it's that. I will try that!! I think I'm going to make lemon drizzle cupcakes, they were really nice last time.

I do shop at morrisons yesss but I always make my own icing and everything!! I think premade is far too sweet :(

I personally like it when the icing is like solid enough to hold a defined swirl like in empireds one :( but tbh I completely improvised with the icing recipe so can’t complain too much

They still look fab lawrawrrr;
Do you use butter or margarine? And are your cake completely cool when you pipe? I get impatient sometimes and ice them too early and then they go all melty

Butter, yes completely cool too. It’s like the actual icing itself just isn’t thick enough but I did so much more then my recipe!!

These all look so fab, loving Ruth's rainbow stripes but would eat all of them obv. I saw some My Little Pony cupcake kits in Sainsburys earlier but not had time for any of this recently :( HOPEFULLY be able to get in on the next one if it's not something too intricate, but well done everyone!

I can obviously show a picture of me with all my products. And I think in fact, that is more cheat-proof than this comp :P Since basically, for this one, you can just buy from bakery and write your habbo name after that XDDD

Here's my bake! A bit different to everyone's cupcakes - banana loaf with salted caramel drizzle. I'm blaming the comps pressure for the fact it didn't turn out as well as usual :'( just like the TV show ahhaaa
