It’s Shake Out day on 18th October, not sure if just for NZ or around the world. But being prone to big earthquakes we have a practice day each year where we pretend an earthquake is happening to test out our surroundings in case a real one hits.

I’ve been in three rather large earthquakes (and too many to count smaller ones or aftershocks), one being a 7.8 so pretty scary!

Have you been in a big earthquake before? Or travelled to a country prone to earthquakes and been slightly freaked out of one happening while you’re there?

Indonesia has a lot of earthquakes and they are the recent news. I don't think I've ever traveled there though (not sure when I was young)

I was in that MASSIVE earthquake the UK had a while back; the one the sensationalist newspapers claimed ROCKED BRITAIN. In actuality it was like magnitude 3.0 and caused some tiles to fall off a roof somewhere. That's the extent of my experience.

Given the extent of fault lines, I'd be surprised if 90% of people had travelled to a country prone to earthquakes.

I haven't experienced any earthquakes myself but I have been to San Francisco which is pretty earthquake prone.

I can't think of any. I guess I visited India which is prone, but in the north?
