Hello.

I'm confused by the Post Count announcement... like what exactly is the intention?

They've sort of returned to normal now...... but not completely normal because I had 25,450 ish and GoldenMerc; had about 26,077 yet I am above him for some reason? I don't get why this happens, I lost like 3k posts last year.

can someone explain? i was in work and Samantha; was telling me about this drama

I wouldn't say drama, but I think it's because some forums before didn't allow post count, so when they've been enabled they haven't fully been added on. However, as for losing posts it could be because certain forums did allow post count but shouldn't have (e.g. staff forums), or that the post count got turned off/disabled. I know Spam was added on earlier, I'm not sure what other forums don't allow post count to increase.

Laura said in her thread it was due to post counts being turned on in forums, but they didn't update and should now show a true number!

I think what it's at now is correct, if you go to "post areas" on your profile you can see eeeeeeeeeverything. My total was 45566 from all that (which is similar to what was showing earlier) but 23524 if you don't include the spam forum (lololol) which leaves me 1065 under after this post - that'll be staff forums, archived areas, and old event forums like Big Brother or HxSS etc

Most likely the old forum games, you have nearly 2k in there which along with various staff areas does add up about right

but why are we retrospectively changing where post counts do/do not count. i don't understand and i think it's unfair on people like ross and chris. i'm kinda gutted too as although i'm now top poster it doesn't feel like i've earned that

to me, if a forum is started with post count on then that should remain forever. same for post count off. even when its 'retired' and hidden.

To fix it. As you said, it shouldn't be flipping between on/off but several areas were erroneously changed to show post count when they shouldn't have. This isn't like deciding that everything in Discuss Anything is now spam and deleting it all, the only things "taken" from anyone weren't meant to be there in the first place

I think you’re confusing me with previous admins/gms Ross and letting your anger over some posts cloud your judgement. Sensibly here, you’ve known me long enough now to know that I ALWAYS try and do whatever is in my power to help people and find whats true, fair and right. Also, just FYI I can see from this thread (https://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=847144&highlight=goldenmerc) that you "reached" 26k posts last year. I know Neversoft; was the one who brought up about post counts not being right when the whole user ranks update happened but I didn't realise it had affected more people.

I'm looking into your post areas now to see if another forum has accidentally been turned off.

In reference to a post made earlier in the thread (I think by buttons;) when event forums are moved none of their settings are changed (so post count shouold still be on?), they are just moved into an archive thread. As far as I'm aware this doesn't change post counts.

The only explanation for you losing 6k IS spam unfortunately. I don't know why it seemingly has affected you for so long though... I know that a few weeks ago I just hit 13k posts, then when I noticed spam was on it was because my user rank was Master and I had 16k posts. I lost around 3k, which is the number I have in spam. But that's just a few days, I don't know why yours was wrong for months, I can't explain it.

There were a few mass merges when we did the forum restructure last year but they were all public forums. I *thought* I did a post recount after that but possibly not.

Old/disused forums have been moved into an archive but they've kept their post count settings.

It HAS HAS HAS to be spam though. If you add up ALL of your posts in forums with post counts turned off excluding spam that's 3k, plus if ALL the 554 other posts were in accidentally off forums, that's still only 3.5k and you're saying you've lost circa 6k, the numbers only make sense with spam.

What I'm assuming (trying to see if I can confirm this now) is that we haven't done a post recount in years and years (basically since you started posting in spam) so since like... 2010 or something spam post counts have been accidentlaly counted?

It's not just you though, Chris posted about losing 4k, I lost 3k.

Again what I'm assuming is that it only started going 'wrong' after a certain date which is why Jen and Tom's post count wasn't accidentally inflated by tons and have each now lost like 40k!

There's NOTHING odd about it at all, it's really really simple. The count was wrong previously, now it's right. I've "lost" around a thousand from it too but it's not really lost because it's figures that shouldn't have been counted to begin with.

"Old forum games" is from THE BEFORE TIME when people used to spam it loads to get high post counts, then it got turned off in like 2008/9 right up until fairly recently soooooo right now the OFG sub is a mixed of shoulds and shouldn'ts. That prob accounts for a few hundred here and there tbh, possibly more if people were more spammy

Old Forum Games operated under the rule that posts did not count, so not they should not be now turned on. The new Forum Games do operate under posts counting, so they should count. Games that are moved when finished should now go into a 'Previous Forum Games' where posts count.

No more chopping and changing. If you say posts count in a forum in 2007 then they should count in 2019. And vice versa.

Yes but I’m pretty certain that your comment about the ranks WAS linked to post counts though as mine was a few hundred away from Veteran but was displaying already, now the posts have been recounted it’s right. That’s WHY I did the recount!! User ranks are based on the number of posts a user has!

As for the prize as it wasn’t one of my competitions and it was so long ago (our prize policy states 3 months but were usually more flexible than that where we can be) I’m not able to reimburse you credit wise sorry. Happy to give you icons/VIP/tokens if you’re willing to exchange.

I'm just making clear I never made any reference to post counts, because the way you put it made it sound like this whole ordeal was my fault.

I was told to contact you which I did numerous times, and in the thread it was stated that the prizes would be sorted by you, but there was always an excuse or delay. Not that I'm saying they were avoidable, but it's hardly my fault I haven't received the prize yet. I've asked like five times since the competition ended. I'm willing to bet none of the winners ever received their rewards. I don't really care at this point, but it's the principle that matters. Not flamin', just sayin'.

Absolutely not blaming you at all, people had been asking why I did a recount so I was explaining why. This isn’t anyone’s “fault” at all there is no blame to be had! This isn’t even an ordeal I’ve just spent the entire thread explaining that yes it is right nothing is wrong!

I don’t remember agreeing to give out prizes (I may be wrong) but if someone contacts me and says I’m online now can I have my prize I’ll usually come on if I can right then, or I’ll give another time I’m free. I actually remember doing this with you in particular for another prize!

I’m probably gonna stop replying to this thread now as it’s gone off topic from the post count issue and is just turning into a flame Laura for various things going wrong or things people disagree with or sweeping statements insinuating how shit or lazy I am/ could possibly be with no evidence or for things that aren’t my fault at all.

I hope anyone who’s read this can understand that while obviously people are upset and I’m sorry for that; all I’ve done and all I can and will continue to do is try and make things better, right and fair every day I’m GM. I really do care about that, this site and all its users.

I understand changes happen and sometimes things get misplaced or pushed to the back, that isn't an issue at all. Every time I asked about the prize I was very polite — I really didn't mind waiting. It's just a shame to see after asking so much, apparently I should have asked more? I won a competition, tried to claim the winnings on several occasions, and am now told that it's expired. That's not on me. I'm not trying to be rude, I was a manger here a long time ago and I know people put a lot of their free time into making the forum interesting, but that's how it happened. It's not a big deal, though. It probably won't keep me up at night.

You then told me you were currently banned and that you would contact me when you were back, so I said I would wait. You never contacted me. You can't really dodge because the proof is there — I tried to claim it several times, there wasn't any more I could have done, but I can see that neither of us really care at this point. Oh well.

I do not remember that PM conversation with you but now you have reminded me I can see that I did say I would pay you. I can only find that one inbox conversation though while I was banned so it's not like I ignored it multiple times?

You need to realise that have a *ridiculous* amount of things going on here, let ALONE at work/personal life so conversations, questions, requests DO get forgotten sometimes. IDK I just find it odd because if you really needed or wanted the prize you surely would have messaged me when you were online or asked for it more often like all the other people who get prizes do?

So while as much as I stand by the above and our prize policy that it is the USER'S responsibility to claim the prize I will offer that if you can organise a time before the end of March to claim it then I will give it to you, only because I did say that I would back in September.
