Former PM Tony Abbott has sadly lost his seat *but* the good news is that it is now looking like the Liberal-National government can hold on.

Important that Labor do not form a government in Australia as the current leader is in favour of a republic, and although they may not have moved on this issue it still isn't worth the risk. Nobody in Australia wants to re-open an issue that was settled back in 1999 under the great PM John Howard. It's done.

More than half the seats have been counted, we'll know the result soon.

Thoughts?

Liberal-Nations (aka British Conservatives) are expected to win a majority after Labor failed to make sufficient gains in Queensland.

Australian Left now in full meltdown. Calling voters stupid, racist and the rest of it. Sounds familiar....
