Are single-sex schools better than co-ed schools?

Do you think placing a child in a single-sex school will result in them getting a better education, or is it simply down to the child's willingness and whether or not they apply themselves effectively into their education.

Are the overall facilities better at single-sex schools due to less costs of having to build male &female toilet/showers etc?...

Can it cause gender-stereotyping?

Is there less distractions at a single-sex school?

Single sex schools limit students’ ability to communicate with the opposite sex, will this affect them when Interacting with the opposite sex in the workplace?

Will it affect the transition between school and workplace?

Schools also teach about social issues, so does keeping genders separated lessen the impact of those lessons?

What are your thoughts on this?

Personally, I don't see the point in single gendered schools, looking at the "Single sex schools limit students’ ability to communicate with the opposite sex, will this affect them when Interacting with the opposite sex in the workplace?" comment, it can have an impact on the social skills within real life encounters, especially with talking to male friends, as they're restricted from that form of communication within the schools.
