well i was gonna go to belfast but then flybe went bust semi cause of coronavirus
so we were then gonna go to glasgow but looks like we might not even able to do that
i'm also super worried for my brother cause he has underlying heart problems and a really bad immune system but i wanna go see him as well but idk if i can or not
i work in a hospital but as part of a 3rd sector organisation so i'll probably be pulled out quite soon but i'm also kinda hoping not because my clients will need me more than ever but i don't want them to get sick
i usually see my GP every 4 weeks for my mental health but don't look like i'll be able to do that, luckily i got to see her on friday so i've got enough medication to last me 1.5 months, she told me when i went that they were having a meeting to see whether the practice will close so i'll need to find out next week about booking an appointment. i think some GPs are doing phone consultations now which i mean i can do so that's fine but i'm worried if pharmacies or GPs close i won't be able to get a prescription which is what will happen if we go in lockdown at some point
i have like enough food for 2 weeks but i've already ate a lot of it so uhhh stockpiling doesn't work lmao
Currently for myself, nothing has changed, apart from the fact that I find it remarkably hard to find toilet roll to purchase.

shops and pharmacies/gps/etc will still be open even if we go into lockdown which we probably won't
I've had quite a few races being postponed or cancelled as it's sports/mass gathering with 500+ people so RIP, even the Edinburgh Marathon has been postponed and it's not until the end of May... other than that not much other than the fact I couldn't find mince, but I got some eventually

there are some GPs that are doing phone consultations only rn... which means no face to face to pick up prescriptions. i'm sure they'll sort something out.
i'm wondering about international students. my ex is at uni here and unable to go back to his parents in dubai bc the UAE have stopped issuing visas. he could go to india as they're repatriating people rn but not for long. so him and other internationals could be stuck in the UK and if they leave it might affect their current/future education. most uni accommodation leases are up around june which is when we're expected to be in our peak so hopefully they just let people who are stranded stay
Kinda glad I didn't book a holiday this year now...
Though I was/am planning to move house this year, but if the housing market crashes as a result then I'll have to fix for another 2 years cause I ain't going onto to SVR until it stabilises...
That said, if someone else is desperate enough to sell, I could always drop my house price by like 10k, and ask if my vendor can drop my 15k.. Have seen that done before, but hopefully I'll still be good to sell up.

I'm honestly not expecting to return to Spain now to work other than in a month or three to collect all my stuff and then leave again.

i would assume so since we're all "working from home". majority of the staff work in offices utilising email or phones so the bulk of their work can be done from home. myself and a colleague work in a hospital and in the community so whilst we can't really work to full affect from home, we're at the most risk of contracting or spreading the virus so the decision had to be made, especially as we work with the most vulnerable people (homelessness, addiction, low income etc). not sure if our shops are closing - i work for shelter scotland.
Well that's not too bad then.. I wish I could deliver cars all across the country from my home lol.

My work is still open & everyone is there but I have been asked (told lol) to work from home so I don't get it if it hits the office.
So basically I'm totally isolated which is super fun and definitely not already having a toll on my mental health

rip I think the advice from govt changed last night to avoid any unnecessary social contact and work from home where possible so I suspect a lot more people will be WfH now... roads were pretty quiet yesterday.
so now athletics has been cancelled which isn't good ideal, but still have fitness which is on 3 days a week... hoping it doesn't end up being cancelled (it doesn't have to abide by Scottish Athletics rules, isn't a charity and is dependent on being open for money so hopefully it'll keep going)
I doubt I'll be working from home anytime soon though as we have too much to do.. I'm away to Berwick today then travelling to 3 different sites in Scotland on Thursday, RIP me

The restaurant I work in has just gone over to takeaway only, customers aren't allowed to stay for longer than they're waiting for food. We've brought the outside benches in because ppl kept trying to sit on them and we've said no.
My netball club has also cancelled until JULY which I'm rly rly sad about :( Ik it's coming from the right place and a good thing to do but I'm gonna miss it so damn much

d1 of working from home... i actually feel like i've done more work than when i've been at work! i suppose that's cause at least at work i'm constantly socializing. i don't consider myself to be particularly sociable but i guess i do miss being around other people and being involved, being at home actually kinda sucks. it'd be fine if i was home and my phone was off but it's going constantly and i can't relax :(
like laura, it affects my mental health. i think being at home means i'm more able to see the news, i'm left alone with my thoughts, in a home full of memories i don't want... work is a distraction for me so it sucks

Yeah, the social benefits of work are one of those things you underestimate until it's not there. Certainly what I enjoy most about work are the (sometimes crazy) conversations.
For me personally, the coronavirus hasn't had much impact. This is partly because I don't use my holidays during the year (see above for the main reason why) so every year in March I end up being forced to use my holidays. I've got 3 weeks off so I'm not really in the thick of it from a work perspective. From what I've heard on the grapevine, people are being asked to bring in their laptops and get the computer systems added to their laptops so they can work from home. I'll find out how it affects me properly on 30th March when I'm due back at work.
Wider family though, my aunty's holiday to Miami has been cancelled, my brother's wedding in Vegas has been cancelled, my baby niece's christening has been cancelled, my nana's 70th birthday surprise party has had to be cancelled. It's so sad that life has had to grind to a halt to deal with a virus that isn't going to majorly affect many people (not saying I disagree with it, I realise it's not to protect me or you, its about those older people and vulnerable people).
Hope everyone is okay and stays healthy :)
I work in the gambling industry and the virus is bringing the sports industry in particular to its knees! No uk horse racing at all and ireland behind closed doors but will be stopped within the week, no euros, no top flight soccer whatsoever, roland garros postponed, no wta/atp, nba, nhl, xfl, golf, snooker, f1 ... there is no sport that can be played without risk and it's going to breed gambling problems when there's only 3rd division chilean women's football and russian table tennis to bet on in any sportsbook.
I am fortunate to have a secure job and an offer of full pay if I need to take time off, but some colleagues in the industry are not so lucky and the uncertainty is causing a lot of anxiety right now. I was meant to be attending the grand national and the euro finals at wembley which is pretty annoying as well :@

So they just announced that all cinemas in the UK are being closed from tomorrow, this is in line with the prime ministers advice to bars, pubs, theatres, cinemas and other such venues... However it's not compulsory at the moment, so other entertainment venues are still staying open..
So there goes my weekend..
Though many distributors are opting to release their movies straight to online streaming services for a cost, so maybe they'll continue doing that until the cinemas are able to open again
today was my day 2 of wfh and genuinely feels so isolating !!! I’m fine when I’m thinking in the present but my company is planning to keep companies closed for potentially months lol
feels sad sitting alone in a room all day, my days are dragging so much more than they normally would too, my steps per day is appalling like I’m sure I’m gonna be obese
madness this is so depressing I hope everyone is staying safe tho!! xxx
I feel bad when older people are gonna isolate for 12 weeks lol I’m struggling in day 2 and I’m spending my day talking to people online !!!! what about all the widowed grannies and grandads or peeps living alone !!!!
sad !!!
mad have u seen this

Last night's announcement that nothing is being forced to close but no-one should go to pubs clubs and theatres has hit massively, essentially all culpability is placed on the businesses for the government saying you should stay away :) :) spent all of today in meetings trying to come up with solutions that won't make anyone redundant hooray

all this media crap trying to induce panic i cba with it anymore, and worst of all its working because you have dumb ***** going raiding stores and mass buying.. and the root of all this is the media which we all know is full of shit to try and gain attention and sell adverts/papers..
We've changed so half staff are work from home other half office based, as I still have site visits planned I'll be working in the office (I'd prefer this than sitting inside alone for days) and going out to visit sites, elbow bumping people I meet (because that's apparently a thing now?? people still trying to shake my hand rip) but normal life resumes

Those site visits really should be banned and put onto an online video call or something if they are meetings. That's part of the problem why this virus is spreading and why working from home is recommended if you are able to do so.

But hey, it's ok we shall keep spreading it because no one's listening to advice.
Maybe the gov will have to start forcing the advise onto companies and people if it carries on the way it is doing. Good luck everyone.

Lil ol' me is still in hosp so it hasn't really had an impact on my life yet other than putting the hosp into a massive go slow !!!
People just gotta deal with it and follow gov advice even if it inconveniences them/they don't like it. Gives us the best chance at protecting our most vulnerable in the population

dunno why. I didn’t mention this earlier but another way this is impacting me is my mums job lol she’s really scared that her company is gonna go bust and even if they don’t, how she’s going to earn money when she’s self employed and unable to sell to people

Well I've been put into a side room now so they're semi-isolating me. Great news for me since theres a number of confirmed cases, including deaths, in the hosp including one on my ward eek.
Also been told when I get out I'll be included in the 12 week isolation thing :( but ya gotta do what ya gotta do!

not here anyway
there's no massive queues out of the shops or fights over stuff in shops
there's empty shelves (toilet paper, fresh meat, pasta, eggs, etc) in big shops like Asda/Tesco/Morrisons/Sainsburys but smaller shops still have full shelves so can still get what you need if you go to smaller shops.
you have rhubarb & custard though what else do you need
