69 years on the throne

Queen Elizabeth II has now been reigning as British and Commonwealth monarch for 69 years

Today marks 69 years since King George VI passed away in his sleep at Sandringham House, as his daughter Princess Elizabeth was abroad in Kenya Colony, being informed she was now Queen of Britain, the Commonwealth and the British Empire. She was only 27 years old when she became monarch.

Next year she'll reach the milestone of 70 years on the throne, a Platinum Jubilee. Large public events are planned across the Commonwealth realms.

God Save The Queen!

True, I always think 25 but I checked and somewhere said 27 but I stand corrected! Saurav;

Goodness what a long time! Fourth longest reigning monarch ever. I do wonder if she will beat all the records and become the longest ever

72 years and she beats King Louis XIV of France and takes top spot.

She'll be like 98 then? Certainly do-able, as is reaching 75 years.

Her aunt who died in 2004, Princess Alice, is the longest lived member of the Royal Family. An impressive 102 years.

Quite impressive. I have a lot of respect for her for her continuous service to the country
