Another great victory by Liz Truss. Scotch and pork in particular are surprising given historic American protectionism in those trade areas.
We're seeing some real concrete benefits coming through now in having our own UK customs union and UK single market.
This is really exciting news!

Lynn's excited to get some British pork oioi
Anyway this is actually only a 4 month suspension of the tariffs that Trump imposed in October 2019, and to get this suspension has required big concessions to the US, including a 2 month head start on free trade and promises of it not being rescinded even if they renew the tariffs after these 4 months :) :) :) so yeah good short term, but needs to be made into an actual deal - which it currently isn't
Chances on this becoming an actual deal?
Come get your discounted pork, scotch whisky, and such... get used to paying these nice prices, and then ... NO MORE! Tax you again just because and you're welcome!

There's not realllllly any reason that it won't because the UK has already removed the tariffs on US imports that Drumpf was having a hissy fit over (which was an EU decision, no idea why he decided to attack the UK specifically with tariffs on scotch and cashmere when he knew we were leaving) and lessened them on a bunch of other things as well, but would imagine the Americans will want even more out of us before agreeing to make it long term
