So, Leicestershire just became the final English county to adopt an official flag in a process that's been going on among local government since 2010.

The flag of Leicestershire combines three of the county’s symbols: the red and white dancetté background, taken from the arms of Simon de Montfort, 6th Earl of Leicester; the Cinquefoil of the de Beaumont Earls of Leicester; and the running fox from the county’s crest, used on many of the county organisations’ emblems.

It was designed by Jason Saber and adopted at the request of all seven of Leicestershire’s Members of Parliament. It was the final English county flag to be adopted, and will be first flown officially for Historic County Flag Day 2021 in Parliament Square, London.

I wondered, what historic British county are you from and what is it's flag? (if applicable).

I live in/am from Liverpool and the city was always a part of Lancashire, so here is my flag. The House of Lancaster red rose on a golden background.

A lot of them have been taken from the coats of arms of local noble families, either extant or extinct. In Britain, the same happened during Victorian times when many former towns grew to become recognised as cities, and the symbol of each city/area of a city was taken from the coat of arms of a former powerful dynasty in the area.

Now we've done it again with county (or what you would call estados) flags.
