That helicopter photo is historically iconic, like the one in Saigon when the Americans evacuated Vietnam.

I was pretty spot on with my prediction of how quickly they would take the country.

It is heart-breaking to see young girls being turned away from school, women again covered in 12th century garments like the burkha, and the Taliban hunting down those who supported or were involved with the coalition forces and the Afghani government over the last 20 years.

President Biden is coming under heavy criticism for this disaster withdrawal, but fundamentally I have to say that I agree with him. If the Afghan army is unwilling to spill blood for liberal democracy, then why should (often working class) American and British soldiers?
