Rebellion grows over Covid measures

Amidst the new restrictions, the Prime Minister is now facing a leadership challenge

I've been in a minority on this forum battling against some very strange mask wearing bed wetters who can't see the very simple logic that no matter how many masks they wear or restrictions they follow, this virus - which is very mild - is here forever. So the choice has always been since Day 1, are you going to live in fear from a virus forever or are you going to live your life and crack on with it?

Like with the EU, I started in a minority and by the end of this I will be in a majority. I guarantee it. Less people are wearing masks than ever before, people who took the first two vaccines are now refusing a third (as will I) and the backbenchers of the Tory Party are now riven with unrest over these absurd rules.

Now, let's hope this PM is deposed as soon as possible and we have a new PM who will scrap much if not all of the stupid Covid rules. Or we'll be stuck in this endless cycle forever while the people who told you not to visit your Grandmother dying party the night away together. If they don't believe a word of it, ask yourself why you still do.

The normally supportive Tory-leaning press is now turning against all of this. Here are the two biggest newspapers in the country.

For the perpetual lockdowners and mask lovers, it is over. Now get under your bedsheets and never bother us all again.

There's a decent chance that the government may be forced to back down before it even tries introducing these measures.

If you all recall during the EU votes, from the moment Theresa May was forced to rely on Labour votes to pass legislation - she was toast.

We must continue to pressure MPs with emails, social media and disobedience and force their hands.

Pressure building on Labour to join with the rebels to bring down the Prime Minister.

If this happens, then expect the government to back down before bringing it to the Commons and thus risking a potentially fatal loss.

For the first time during this overblown pandemic, it really does feel the tide is turning against the Covid fanatics and lock downers. We can defeat this.

We've now reached a total of 80 MPs who are publicly going to vote against the government tomorrow on new Covid-19 rules.

This is enough to deprive the government of its majority and the PM will now have to rely on Labour to pass the legislation.

Rebellion grows over removing Queen as Head of State. Rebellion grows as more racists support BNP and want UK to only have white people. Don't see you posting those things? Oh wait, it does not suit your agenda.

I haven't seen backbench rebellions of 80+ voting against the government for those things. Could you point them out for me with some links?

But MPs are stupid like you once said. It is the public whose opinion matters. So why are you now quoting the number of MPs voting against what Boris is proposing? Lets talk about the racists in UK.

MPs generally lag behind public opinion as it shifts, like I said the rebellion on the backbenchers will eventually force the governments hand.

Oh no not the race drum. Please. Hasn't that grievance drum been banged enough already?

Same as your banging on about how lockdowns cause you so much anxiety.

Whatever.

Anyway, let's see by what margin the backbenchers rebel tomorrow.

Great to see Steve Baker MP (below) co-ordinating efforts against the government. Many may remember him as the main strategist behind the moves to force David Cameron into holding a referendum on the EU, and later for his efforts in spearheading the ERG against the May government over the votes in Parliament on her deal. I'd like to think if the PM loses this Thursday's by-election we could engineer a leadership coup against him, but I don't think we're quite there yet.

Rebellion against the government even bigger than expected on vaccine passports. PM had to rely on Labour to pass measures.

Our side must now work on undermining the PM over the next couple of months with the intent of throwing him out by the Easter/early summer. Only once this PM is removed from office, along with the likes of Gove in the Cabinet who are pushing lockdown measures, will we get out of this endless cycle of self-inflicted misery.

A list of Labour rebels and Greens who voted with us tonight to oppose this madness.

It took 117 MPs to bring down Theresa May, we already have the numbers to topple him if he persists with this line of policy. Politically this will now make it almost impossible for the government to extend measures further (as in a full lockdown) as to do so would risk an even bigger rebellion and a leadership challenge. A great victory tonight for those of us on the anti-hysteria and pro-freedom side imo.
