Cabinet revolt and block new Covid-19 restrictions

Today the British Cabinet is rumoured to have blocked any new restrictions in a meeting that lasted hours

I know the Covid fanatics on this forum will be devastated, but finally it looks like my side is coming through. Earlier this week we had the huge rebellion against masks and vaccine passports by 100+ Tory MPs, then we had the resignation of Lord Frost over restrictions and now we have the Cabinet telling the PM "No."

I guess the fanatics on here will all just have to impose absurd restrictions on themselves. Everyone else though? See you all down at the pub.

except noone actually knows if the cabinet "revolted" against boris or who was for or against what. oooh the song "room where it happens" from hamilton comes to mind.

It's super gross to say people on here will be "devastated" to not be locked away from their family and friends over Christmas for a second year in a row. Sometimes, some of us put away our selfish wants for the needs of the vulnerable and the overall health of the nation. It doesn't mean we're cheering on for a lockdown - literally noone would CHOOSE a lockdown.

What's AWFUL imo is the message of "wellllllll we're not gonna lock down now but we're gonna review constantly" which leaves at least me and my friends (because I know some people don't care and the message won't affect their lives, work, family or festive plans) in a state of panic and not knowing, things could change at any point with no notice. I'd rather be told "in a week we're locking down" than "we're locking down in 24 hours" as seems reasonably likely now.

So glad I'm working over Christmas and having to prepare 16 different action plans because the gov won't commit to a plan.

lawrawrrr;

Can you just tell me one thing. Just one thing.

When will this end, or are you quite happy to live like this forever?

No I cannot tell you that in fact because I am not a scientist and do not know enough about the projected future of the virus to speculate on “when it will end”

From what I *do* know it seems most likely scientists will develop better vaccine defences as they learn more and if I have to go get a booster every year to stop me either suffering from, or spreading, bad symptoms I am more than happy to do that yes.

But the scientists don't seem to have a clue either.

Here are the SAGE predictions vs what actually happened.

So you're willing to delegate how you live your life to SAGE when they come up with outrageously incorrect predictions as I posted above?
