One Year On: National Memorial planned for Elizabeth II, the Cabinet Office announces

How time has gone so quick that at 3:10pm tomorrow afternoon it will be a year since Elizabeth II passed.

Originally one of the plans (and I suspect it'll happen at some point regardless) was for a statue of her in Trafalgar Square on the fourth plinth, but quite clearly something more grand is needed to fit the monarch who served 70 years on the throne. The most famous and grand of these of course (excluding the beautiful Victoria Memorial in Calcutta, India) is the Victoria Memorial in front of Buckingham Palace - see below - which was built in 1911.

Hopefully we have something just as grand and majestic. Perhaps a huge marble archway halfway up The Mall? Or a gothic replacement for London Bridge?

Anyway with the news that The King has reached 1 year on the throne, he's now the 51st out of 55 British monarchs in terms of length of reign.

Still a long way to go... https://www.britroyals.com/reigned.asp

Interesting behind the scenes photograph I had not seen before and I think hadn't been released to the public until today.
