The collapse of the Assad regime in Syria would be an utter disaster.

Let's pray that he crushes them like roaches.

Tonight it looks as though the Ba'athist regime, which has ruled Syria since 1963, has collapsed.

Hafez al-Assad was President from 1971 until his death in 2000 when he was succeeded by his son, Bashar al-Assad.

Ba'athism was an ideology that dominated the Middle East in the post-independence era, with the likes of Saddam Hussein also belonging to the ideology. If the Syrian regime has indeed collapsed tonight, that marks the historic end of Ba'athism as a ruling force in the region.

The Syrian regime has now collapsed and Syria is at the mercy of Al-Qaeda and fellow jihadists. It'll now face a future like Iraq/Libya whereby the country is splintered between different sectarian and religious factions, all vying for control via their proxy sponsors, or it'll be ruled by a theocratic government like Afghanistan. Given the structure of Syria demographic wise, the first option is far more likely in my eyes.

Thankfully Assad and his family made it to Moscow before these animals could get their hands on him.
