The American version of our Coronation.

I don't usually find American inaugurations particularly interesting regardless of who has won, but this one is quite interesting and unusual in that it'll be a former president coming back to office after leaving office - he's the only president in American history to have done other than Grover Cleveland in the late 1800s. A nice quirk of history for any history nerds like me.

I'm personally crossing my fingers and toes for him to veto the sickening British Indian Ocean Territory surrender that HM Government is currently trying to arrange with Mauritius. It's literally the worst foreign policy action since the invasion of Iraq. Come on Big D!

The inauguration as been moved indoors inside the rotunda (underneath the Dome) because of freezing temperatures.

Less than 12 hours to go until the swearing in.

It'll be at 12pm midday Washington DC time, so that's 5pm GMT (UK time) for anyone wanting to catch it live. I start my second (and final) school placement today in a school that's just a 12 minute walk around the corner, so I will luckily be able to catch it after I sit down with a cup of tea.

Has taken office as the 47th US President.

He's announced a raft of common sense policies like only recognising two genders, having the mass deportation of illegal immigrants, using force on drug cartels, withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accord, "drill, baby drill" (more oil and gas) to get energy costs down, tariffs on countries who are ripping America off and finally saying that the Panama Canal - which the Americans built - should still belong to America.

Hopefully we can have something similar in 2028/2029 with a Prime Minister Farage announcing the same on the steps of Number 10.
