Tonight and the next 24 hours will probably decide whether the Prime Minister goes or limps on. Extraordinary.

It looks like the PM survives for now, nobody has yet made a move in those crucial 24 hours. That said, it does feel like the dying days of the Johnson Ministry where it only took one more scandal to bring down Boris Johnson. *All* the files on Lord Mandelson will be released now that Parliament has demanded it, and there are no doubt ticking time bombs in those messages to bring down ministers and possibly the Starmer Ministry itself.

We've also got that Manchester by-election in late February to come where Labour are likely to be eclipsed by Reform and the Greens, and then the May elections which include the English Locals and the Scottish & Welsh Assemblies.

If I were a betting man, we will have a new PM before August 2026.
