The Experience Of Death

Holding on is what you can do. You can hold on if you have a stong heart, my mother would say. If pain would seep through my body as much as it does now, then I know all I can do is have faith in the strength of my pumping aching heart.

I sprawled across the ground, gripping the soft fresh earth in my fingertips. I held my leg in fury. It hurt so much, I couldn't think straight. Was I shot? Was I stabbed? God knows, all I know is that I can't stay put any longer. I need help, but I hear no living breath in my silent drained ears.

Was I going to die? Was I going to leave my beautiful corpse behind me? Would I sail off to Heavan and join the saints? Or would I be cast into the fiery depths of hell, where my soul would be tortured for eternity? Only time can tell.

the time was near, I could feel its presence. I could feel the deathly reapers surrounding me, like a whirlwind of shadow. My spine shivered and my heart sank as I saw a bony creature lift up his Scythe. My eyes started to black over, they flickered wildly. I looked up for the very last time, knowing I would never see the beautiful sky that dawned on my face everyday, ever again.

My eyes were shut. I tried to open them, but my concentration had been driven to my ever slowing heart rate. It got slower and slower, and I couldn't stop it. My breathing had become so dense and short I finally stopped breathing.

I felt my soul lift out of my body and look at my dead lifeless body lying on the floor, with my hand on my heart.
"Why me?" I screamed, yet no words came out. It was like I had been silenced. A terrible ringing was in my ears, I tried to shout over and over again but no sound was heard. I could feel my body expanding, my head felt like it was going to explode. With a final cry out to scream I disapeared.

And then I felt nothing, ever again.
