Not true at all, uptime is just as good as any other company who charged more for shoutcast hosting.

I wouldn't reccomend ordering from a VPS. Usally VPS hosters don't sell over 1000GB bandwidth, and lets say a 150 listner @ 24kb could use that on its own.

I dont think there is any point in buying shoutcast, but maybe thats just because i dont know what the ups are. I host my own server for my own private use [sometimes my friends use it] and everythings been fine

The reason you pay to have it hosted is so you dont have to run it threw your pc. Running it threw your pc means you have to have your pc on for someone to connect where as a webhosting server is switched on all the time.
