It does make you a little worried when you bite into a chicken though. But it goes back to the old saying " Out of sight, out of mind ". At first everyone was scared of eating cows but now that fear has vanished, hopefully the same will happen with these little chickens.

Its like the 'Sars' disease (I think?) when it hit Japan, it killed millions. This new disease is meant to be spreading in Japan and Russia, the disease is transported by Migrating Birds, to my knowledge ;)

Its media hype, if anyone of the stuff like that were true we would have all died to mad cow, then sars, and probaly a few 100 other desies by now, all that have never realy become anything in realty "/ There are far more serios desise out there, that are killing thses sorts of numbers, yet no one seems to threat at them for some reason. its just media hype and a bit of "fear of the unknown"

The your post has no meaning which equals Spam! ;) Anyways, its about a Hyped 'epidemic' that could (I'll state again could) wipe out 150 million peoples.

Lol, it's not called chicken flu. 'Avian influenza', more commonly dubbed bird flu, is a highly fatal disease that as of yet, only affects birds.

What scientists fear is that this will combine with human influenza and create a mutated strand that can be transmitted from human to human. Though it would be less lethal after mutation, it's still feared to cause a pandemic and could kill 150 million worldwide, and I think 50 000 (or 500 000 - I'm not too sure) Brits.

It's got nothing to do with eating chicken. It's an airborne disease which you'd catch just like regular flu.

Transported by species of birds that migrate to different countries due to climate affects etc...
I'm not really bothered about it? I don't see the fuss, too much Hype. Oh well, KFC is still owns :p

Bear-Max
30-09-2005, 11:58 PM
You'll see the fuss when people start dying :P

It can be combatted, but typically, the government don't have enough supplies of the drug that people need to take.

NekkLe
01-10-2005, 12:08 AM
That is a fuss I guess ;) but I don't think it will reach figures to that extent. If so, the Government (EU) are poor to react to this. What if theres a major epidemic that could really do some harm, we're fuzzled!

Its the birdd flu not chicken. & birds spread it not food. We'll be ok tony blair has apparently ordered jabs but not nearly HALF enough for the expected amount of people hit. I just hope we'll be ok.

I bet they'll give all the jabs to illegal immigrants and terrorists and other scum like that.

Dont worry, we should all be ok, old people and babies are always the most at risk.
I read on a news site that bird flu has only killed an "estimate" (lol) of 6 people, as if they can't count..
Not really supposed to kill you, just make you bedridden.
Like mentor says, media hype.
And SAR's didnt kill millions, was it even thousands?

Bear-Max
01-10-2005, 01:45 PM
Yeah, but it's only killed 6 people because it cannot yet travel from human to human.

It's had about a 60% fatality rate for those who have been infected.
