John Frusciante should be up higher... but that's just me. I was considering that, but I can't see him being above Joe Perry. It might be personal preferance but if you've heard Perry's solo album, you'd know what I mean.
And I'm hoping Thurston Moore is in at least the top 20. Top 20 current definately. Top 15 probably.

Meh, I'm not a fan of Perry so haven't checked out his solo album. But I'm a softy for ol' Frucante and mistakenly think of him as the greatest current guitar player so my view is skewed on that bias. :P Anyone that purposely become a heroin junkie and survived to tell about it and can still play guitar has my vote :D

Haha. What about someone who dies 3 times and then goes on to play in a very successful hard rock group?

Not a bad list. A few extremely random ones lol. Angus Young...I know you love him but (I hope some people will agree with me here) he wasn't better than Hendrix. I'd put him in the top 30, not top 10. Chuck Berry, a little lower. He was amazing for his time but others did much more for their time.
Bob Marley?!//!?/1!?;!/ :P Not in my top 100 :]. Great musician though. If you're putting that guy in from motorhead, you're missing the likes of Randy Rhoads, Dimebag, Malmsteen etc. Just my opinion anywho.

You've gotta listen to Dream Theater and Buckethead's solo work. Then you'll see why I put them above Slash ;). Malakian and Li lower. Morello up. Not a fan of "the edge" really. He's nothing special, and what middle aged man calls themselves The Edge anyway? He sounds like he should be this amazing shredder from that name, but no, he plays the same style riffs in every monotonous U2 song. Pretentious ******s.
Actually, I don't really like him but I could only think of 9 people. And Hendrix is better than Ang, but I think that Angus Young is one of the best guitarists of the last 50 years- he keeps it simple, but people seem to just spit at his feet 'cause he isn't some bloody shredder. And chuck berry was one of the pioneers of rock. If there wasn't Berry, ask yourself if we'd even have bands like 'DC or even Hendrix!

-Will Yeah he was a pioneering rock figure, but Hendrix did more for the genre. Without Hendrix we wouldn't have most of the styles we have today. There were similar artists to Chuck Berry in his era, just he was the best of the bunch. There wasn't, and never has been since, someone like Hendrix.

Is that all you can think about?!
For some reason it double posted :s
And yes, a middle-aged man in a school uniform with a Gibson SG is all I can think about.
ROCK ON!

I love/hate watching Hendrix play... he makes it seem soooooooooo easy. But then you try it and are like Blimey! I can't do this!

Haha, so true. He just did it so perfectly.
They're not the best guitarists, but here are my favorite guitarists. People that I can just sit and listen to all day long. It's gonna be disagreed with but these things happen.
Jimi Hendrix... (that solo in "Little Ivey" (live version of "Little Wing" minus the annoying bells) blows me away everytime I listen to it... 1:43 is the start of pure Heaven for a full two minutes. )
Kurt Cobain (Nirvana)... (the solo in "Sappy" pretty much defined how I play guitar.)
John Fruscante (RHCP)... anything this guy plays is gold to me
Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth)... not nescessarily the "best" guitar player, but distortion player? He's the top of the league with that.
Curt Kirkwood (Meat Puppets)... He has such an interresting/different style of playing. Just listen to "Meat Puppets II" and you'll see what I mean.
Brad Nowell (Sublime)... another guy that could make the guitar sound beautiful.
Rivers Cuomo (Weezer)... everytime I watch the "Undone" video I have to laugh at his "I'm bored, this is too easy" expression on his face when he goes into the solo.
Jerry Cantrell (Alice In Chains)/Kim Thayill (Soundgarden)... They added their own personalities into the typical shredding techniques.
And that's all I can think of at the moment.
