What have we become?
As i walk along the cold, wet bay,
the waters rush and the ocean sways,
my feet covered in sticky sand,
and looking up i noticing the land.
The hilltops curve, the puddles steep,
over i go, with a leap.
In the distance, there stands a boy,
tiredly walking, with his Teddy toy.
Suddenly bursting from a nearby bush,
a large teenager gives him a push.
The small child by now falls to the ground,
and the teenager reaches over,
and starts to pound.
I stand there staring, too cowardly to help,
and the small child gives a yelp.
I turn my back, not wanting to be the same,
going back the way i came.
I still see those images today,
The kid now in a hole in the ground,
and i wonder if i should have entered the fray.
Walking down to that same cold, wet bay,
And if i walked into the water, and did not stop, would the images stay away?
