http = hypertext transfer protocol
https = hypertext transfer protocol secure
Basicly Http is unsecure https is a secure site, userly banking etc will be https.

If you see a website with https then it means it has a SSL certificate installed onto it. This is a certificate that ensures safety of information passed through the website. :)
